Dr. Agrupis’ reappointment reflects the trust and confidence placed in her leadership as she continues to guide the country’s higher education sector. Her stewardship has supported initiatives that strengthen academic quality, research, innovation, internationalization, and institutional development, while advancing policies that promote accessible, relevant, and responsive higher education for Filipino learners.

As Basilan State College continues to pursue excellence in instruction, research, extension, and governance, the College values the Commission’s continuing guidance in advancing quality assurance and institutional development. These shared efforts reinforce the role of higher education institutions in producing graduates who are equipped to contribute meaningfully to their communities and to national development.

Her first 365 days have been marked by purposeful direction, academic stewardship, and a deep commitment to widening opportunities for learners, institutions, and communities across the country. In a period of continuing change in higher education, her leadership has affirmed the important role of colleges and universities in shaping responsive, inclusive, and future-ready education for the Filipino people.

For Basilan State College, this milestone is also a moment of gratitude. We recognize a year of dedicated service, meaningful policy direction, and steadfast support for higher education institutions working to advance quality, access, and excellence in their respective communities.

Basilan State College (BaSC) formally received the newly completed Two-Storey Lumah Alumni on April 28, 2026, at the BaSC grounds, Barangay Sumagdang, Isabela City, Basilan.

The facility is a project of the Provincial Government of Basilan, funded through the 20% Development Fund. It was officially turned over to the College as part of the Provincial Government’s continuing support for educational development, institutional facilities, and alumni engagement.

College President Dr. Haipa Abdurahim-Salain expressed the institution’s sincere gratitude to the Provincial Government of Basilan, the Office of the Provincial Engineer, and all offices involved in the completion of the project. She emphasized that the Lumah Alumni will serve as a meaningful space for connection, collaboration, and continuing engagement among BaSC graduates and the College.

Hon. Nasser A. Salain, President of the BaSC Alumni Association and Board Member of the 1st District of Basilan, joined the ceremony, together with Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Sheila U. Alonzo, officials and personnel of the Provincial Government, BaSC officials, faculty, staff, alumni, and student leaders.

The turnover of the Lumah Alumni marks another significant step in strengthening BaSC’s institutional support systems as it continues to serve its students, graduates, and stakeholders. Envisioned as a home for the College’s graduates, the facility will provide a venue for alumni engagement, mentoring, collaboration, and initiatives that connect past, present, and future members of the BaSC community. Its completion reflects the value of sustained partnership between public service and education in creating spaces that honor institutional history, strengthen community ties, and contribute to the continuing growth of students, graduates, and the wider Basilan community.
