PAGDAKAYU MA GADDUNG “UNITED WITH GREEN”
DLZS Launches 'ANGAT G**O' Training for Island District 2 Teachers

De La Salle Santiago Zobel School (DLSZ), a premier institution committed to Lasallian outreach, recently inaugurated a crucial phase of its partnership with the Badjao Floating Integrated School and other schools under Island District II by conducting an intensive teacher training workshop. Dubbed "ANGAT G**O: Creative Teaching Strategies in Reading, Comprehension, and Numeracy," the training was aimed at empowering educators from Island District 2.

Three Years of Transformative Partnership
The initiative marks a new milestone in a successful three-year commitment between DLSZ and the Badjao Floating Integrated School and Island District II. This partnership focuses on providing quality education to the marginalized Badjao community, who traditionally face significant challenges in literacy and school access.
Through dedicated support—which often includes customized materials, resource provision, and specialized instructional coaching—DLSZ has helped establish and sustain effective foundational learning programs. The success stories from the Badjao school serve as a high-impact, real-world laboratory for developing teaching practices that work in diverse and challenging environments.

Sharing Expertise: The ANGAT G**O Workshop
The "ANGAT G**O" workshop brought together teachers from the multiple schools within Island District 2, with the core mission of transferring the most effective strategies.
The training was led by DLSZ's top educators—teachers recognized for their excellence and innovative teaching methods in their respective fields. These speakers shared their school's "best practices"—practical, adaptable, and highly effective techniques designed to address learning gaps in the most critical areas:
* Creative Reading Strategies: Focusing on phonics, fluency, and culturally relevant storytelling to bridge the gap from "learning to read" to "reading to learn."
* Enhanced Comprehension Techniques: Introducing meta-cognitive strategies, such as visualization, questioning, and summarization, to improve critical thinking and text engagement.
* Foundational Numeracy: Demonstrating inventive ways to teach core mathematical concepts using tangible and locally available resources, making the subject less abstract and more applicable to daily life.

Empowerment for Island District 2
By sharing the strategies honed in their unique partnership with the Badjao community, DLSZ provides the educators of Island District 2 with valuable tools to uplift their own students. The ultimate goal is to scale the success of the reading and numeracy program across the entire district, ensuring that all teachers are equipped with the skills necessary to cultivate a love for learning and improve academic outcomes in foundational subjects.

This type of knowledge transfer between a top private institution and a public school district exemplifies a powerful model for cross-sector collaboration in Philippine education. It reinforces the Lasallian mission of service and underscores the vital role that educational partnerships play in democratizing access to high-quality teaching methodologies. The "ANGAT G**O" program is a commitment not just to a school, but to an entire community's future.

Focus in. Mark it. Science and Math awaits! 📍

This National Science and Mathematics Month 2025, we’re not just celebrating science—we’re mapping its impact!

Badjao Floating Integrated School joins the celebration of Science and Mathematics Month 2025 with the theme “Spatialyze: Surveying Societies, Sensing Solutions.” We explore Geomatics—the science of transforming land, location, and data into solutions that matter.

From satellites to sensors, and from maps to meaning, we harness technology not just to see but to understand what our communities truly need. In the Philippines, too many areas remain underwater, underserved, or overlooked.

This year, we dare you to spatialyze:
• Survey what’s real.
• Sense what needs change.
• Solve with science that serves.

Together, let’s turn data into direction—and ensure no one is left off the map.
