NEWS | COLLEGE OF NURSING LOCKS IN INTRAMURAL REPRESENTATIVES

The College of Nursing is officially ready for the upcoming Intramurals 2026 after selecting its student-athletes during a series of tryouts on August 9, 2026.

The day kicked off with the Cheer and Yell tryouts at the Black House, starting at 9:00 in the morning. Participants prepared their own dance routines and proudly showed off their skills in front of the evaluators. Even though a few students were absent or decided to back out, the event was still a huge success thanks to the remaining participants who are eager to represent the college.

Shortly after, the Dart tryouts took place at the Saint Ferdinand College-Annex. Because of bad weather, the games were moved indoors where a safe, standard target was set up for the players. After some exciting one-on-one matches, Querubin scored 196 points to win the women's category, while Alvaro scored 118 points to win the men's category.

Alongside these events, the department also successfully held its Billiard tryouts on the exact same day over at Einna Billiards.

The College of Nursing officially launched its recruitment drive to build its athletic delegation for the upcoming Saint Ferdinand College Intramurals 2026, hosting sports tryouts across four major disciplines on August 2, 2026, at the SFC Main Campus Gymnasium.

Supervised by College of Nursing Student Body Organization (CNSBO) Adviser Joshua Gamboa, the one-day tryout series aimed to identify and select qualified student-athletes in badminton, basketball, chess, and volleyball ahead of the inter-departmental games scheduled for September 2026.

The recruitment drive opened at 9:00 A.M. with badminton tryouts, facilitated by Mark Lawrence Vidal under Gamboa's supervision. Despite unfavorable weather conditions, organizers successfully adapted by relocating matches indoors onto an improvised court marked to standard measurements.

In the basketball division, a total of 16 student-athletes participated in a multi-stage evaluation process. The session began with an orientation on selection criteria, followed by warm-up and conditioning drills.
Participants showcased fundamental skillsโ€”including ball handling, passing, shooting, defensive movement, and game awarenessโ€”during live scrimmage games. The team captain and assistant captain spearheaded the evaluation, assessing each athleteโ€™s technical abilities alongside discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork to finalize the roster.

The volleyball recruitment program began with a mixed-gender match, allowing evaluators to gauge players' core court communication, fundamental mechanics, and teamwork in a dynamic environment. Subsequent matches were divided into dedicated girls' and boys' divisions.

Selection leads Cristina Calamba (Girls' Team) and Fritz Adrian Banocnoc (Boys' Team) evaluated candidates based on overall performance, court presence, and discipline. A total of 24 student-athletes were selectedโ€”12 for the Girls' Volleyball Team and 12 for the Boys' Volleyball Teamโ€”to represent the Nursing department in the September games.
