On its fourth day of the weeklong school foundation celebration, students reminisce the traditional Filipino games. Led by the Marcelo Spinola School Council (MSSC), students actively participated in a friendly competition amongst their fellows. Among the games played were wheel racing, patintero, jump rope, Chinese garter, Maria went to town, and dodgeball.

Basking in the heat of the Sun, the smiles and laughter of each student never faded; rather fueled their spirit to win the games. For every jump, dodge, and step reflects the camaraderie and teamwork that the school upholds.

The Love Drive Campaign was launched during the Christmas season and is set to culminate during the Foundation Week as an expression of gratitude and shared mission. This initiative was made possible through the generous support of the Spรญnola family and friends who extended their blessings through financial assistance, in-kind donations, and, most importantly, through their prayers. These acts of generosity reflect a deep sense of solidarity and communion, for which we are sincerely grateful.

Rooted in our personal experience of Godโ€™s abiding and transformative love, the campaign seeks to share this same love with others in its 31st founding anniversary in a concrete and life-giving manner. Having encountered God who is present and faithful, we are called to โ€œbe withโ€ those who are often marginalizedโ€”listening to their stories, accompanying them with compassion, and serving them through tangible acts of care. This includes our brothers and sisters deprived of liberty, those who are ill and in hospitals, and families of children who would greatly benefit from moments of joy, human connection, and gift-giving. In this mutual encounter, we recognize that as we reach out to them, they also touch our hearts, deepen our gratitude, and draw us closer to God.

This outreach is deeply anchored in the spirituality of our founder, Blessed Marcelo Spรญnola, who taught us to allow ourselves to be loved and to recognize Godโ€™s love as it is manifested in countless ways. From this spirituality flows our mission to announce the personal love of Christ and to serve with joy, love, humility, and simplicity. Guided by this charism, the Love Drive Campaign is directed especially toward the beneficiaries at the District Jail (Male/Female Dormitory) and the District Jail in Sanito, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay, as a concrete expression of faith in action and compassionate service.

In the end, To Serve is to Reign (Servir es Reinar) calls us to a way of life where greatness is measured not by power held, but by love given. It reminds us that true leadership is born in humility, compassion, and self-giving service, lived out in our daily encounters within and beyond the school community. As we choose to serveโ€”often quietly and without recognitionโ€”we participate in a reign that transforms hearts, uplifts the marginalized, and reflects Christโ€™s own way of loving. Thus, our school motto is not merely a phrase we recite, but a mission we embody, shaping us into persons who reign by serving and lead by loving.

As Blessed Marcelo Spinola says, "Gratitude Moves the Heart to Love." Every year, starting from the 19th of January, various activities involving acts of service are held amidst the Marcelo Spinola School, Inc. (MSSI) Foundation Week. The Spinola family yearly reach out to their brothers and sisters who are most in need, by sharing simple goods through Love Drive.

You cannot give what you do not have, as the Spinola Sisters often say. Hence, with hearts filled with gratitude, the Spinola family once shared the personal love of Christ they receive with vulnerable patients from two different hospitals through modest donations such as bread, biscuits, sachets of coffee, milk, Milo, and the like. Prepared by the G12 Mo. San Marcelo class, and spearheaded by T. Chrizel Ann O. Cario and Sr. Hazel Ladiero, ADC.

This year, on the 21st of January, all Grade 12 students were divided into separate groups and were assigned to distinct medical wards. A total of 175 relief goods were donated at Dr. George T. Hofer Medical Center at Barangay Tenan, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay, and a total of 20 for the DGTHMC Hemodialysis Hub at Barangay Sanito, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay. Highlighting the significance of love, service, and prayer as the Spinolanians interacted with their brothers and sisters from the said medical centers.

Withal to the institution's 31st founding anniversary, the aforementioned hospital visitation reminds us of the values of our Fr. Founder, Blessed Marcelo Spinola โ€” the "Tatak Spinola". Serving others and helping those who are in need without the expectation of anything in return.

As the whole Spinola community celebrates its founding anniversary, the profound intention to give and share, not only from what we have in abundance, but even from the little gifts we have in hand, is a beautiful way to mark its 31st milestone merely by being a public fountain where everyone can drink. Indeed, "To Serve is to Reign".
