1. We are going forth from the school of Jesus,

We have sat at His blessed feet.

We have drunk from truth's celestial fountain,

2. We are going forth from the upper chamber,

From the days of our Pentecost,

We have giv'n ourselves in a full surrender,

And been filled with the Holy Ghost.

We are going forth as epistles holy.

And to live as Christ would do;

Let us always represent our Master,

Let our life be always true.

As ambassadors for God,

👦 MISSION & VISION 👧

Proverbs 22:6 says, "Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it." This verse highlights the powerful influence that early instruction and example have on a child's character and values. "Training" here means more than simply teaching; it involves guiding, shaping, and forming a child’s heart, habits, and mindset in ways that align with godly principles.

Key Aspects of Training a Child’s Heart

1. Modeling Godly Behavior:
Children learn by observing, so parents and mentors are called to embody the virtues they want to instill, such as love, patience, kindness, humility, and integrity. This provides a living example for the child to follow.

2. Teaching God’s Word:
Regularly exposing children to Scripture and teaching them how to apply biblical principles equips them with a moral and spiritual foundation. This helps shape their conscience and understanding of right and wrong.

3. Encouraging Positive Habits:
Building disciplines like prayer, gratitude, and service in daily life helps a child develop a mindset focused on God and others rather than self.

4. Providing Correction and Instruction:
Training also includes lovingly correcting a child and teaching them to recognize the consequences of their actions. Discipline, when done in love, helps shape a child’s heart to embrace God’s ways.

5. Helping Them Discover Their Unique Purpose: Part of training a child in "the way they should go" is helping them understand their unique gifts and calling, as God has a purpose for each life. When children feel secure in their identity in Christ, they're better able to pursue lives of meaning and service.

Ultimately, the aim is to instill a love for God and a desire to follow Him that remains strong as they grow. Proverbs 22:6 emphasizes that these early teachings lay a foundation that continues into adulthood, helping children make godly choices even when they are independent.
