On April 15, 2026, Supervising Science Research Specialist Ms. Gladys Marie D. Caray, representing the DA RFO 9-Research Division, presented the Division’s programs, services, and opportunities during a meeting held at Sibugay Technical Institute Incorporated (STII) Ecotourism Farm, Upper Pangi, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay, in response to their request aimed at strengthening partnerships and enhancing collaboration.

Ms. Caray, who also serves as the Project Leader of Agriculture and Fisheries Resources Research and Extension for Development Network (AFRREDN), highlighted the vital role of AFRREDN as the linkaging body of the Research Division. She emphasized its function in fostering collaboration among research institutions, local government units, and academic partners to promote inclusive and sustainable agricultural development.

The meeting was attended by representatives from key government agencies, including the Department of Trade and Industry Region IX (DTI IX), Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region IX (BFAR IX), Department of Science and Technology Region IX (DOST IX), and Philippine Coconut Authority Region IX (PCA IX), with the active participation of STII faculty and staff.

A new set of agricultural learning materials from the 𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗲 (𝗔𝗧𝗜) 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲 has been made available to support the continuous learning and capacity development of trainees, students, farmers, and extension workers. The materials include various guides and references on proper farming practices, crop management, and sustainable agriculture.

These resources will serve as valuable learning tools during training sessions, educational activities, and extension programs, helping strengthen agricultural knowledge and improve farming practices within the community. The Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (BS Agriculture) students of Sibugay Technical Institute Incorporated – College of Agriculture proudly received recognition during the Gender and Development and Women’s Month Celebration held on March 13, 2026 at the STII Gymnasium.
