"Maging proud kayo sa produkto nyo." Words that hit right in the heart. 💚

While the rain poured heavily outside, the atmosphere inside the hall was filled with an overwhelming warmth. On August 12, 2026, in Brgy. Aga, Nasugbu, Batangas, a truly meaningful connection took place. The 6th Farmer’s Brew brought together the National Coffee Research, Development, and Extension Center (NCRDEC), The Cooking Dad Coffee Roastery and Café, and the Aga Farmers’ Cooperative, with generous support from Altitud Coffee Space!

The event featured a comprehensive lecture on proper coffee brewing standards and sensory profile, followed by a demonstration and an interactive hands-on session. Also, every farmer went home with their very own coffee dripper, server set, and filter papers, alongside a donated community brewing set for the cooperative.

This gathering was more than just a workshop. It was a celebration of our farmers' dedication. For the very first time, many of them got to personally brew, taste, and experience the incredible quality of the coffee they planted and harvested themselves.

Hearing one of our participants share, "Salamat po sa pagpapalakas ng loob sa’ming mga magsasaka," reminds us why we do what we do.

Here’s to championing our local farmers and community empowerment—from seed to cup.

Counting down to an impactful day tomorrow!

We are beyond excited to join hands with The Cooking Dad Coffee Roastery and Cafe and the Aga Farmers' Multi-purpose Cooperative (AGFAMCO) for The Farmer’s Brew initiative happening tomorrow (August 12).

A huge salute to the TCDCRC team for launching this meaningful advocacy. Equipping our local coffee farmers with essential brewing, and sensory skills gives our producers the tools and pride to taste the true value of their harvest.

We are truly proud to partner with a team that puts coffee farmers first. We can't wait to share the moments from this collaborative effort tomorrow!

Coffee research is foundational for a thriving Philippine coffee industry. At the National Coffee Research, Development and Extension Center (NCRDEC), Doc Miriam leads some of the university’s coffee research projects. One area she’s especially passionate about is understanding the genetics of Liberica (barako), research she believes is both long overdue and essential.

In the Philippines and around the world, coffee faces growing threats from climate change, pests, and disease. Liberica has earned a reputation for being remarkably resilient, but we still don’t fully understand why. Much of what we know comes from observing the plant itself. By studying its genetics, researchers hope to uncover the traits that make Liberica so resilient, helping guide breeding, conservation, and the future of Philippine coffee.

NCRDEC’s work extends far beyond its campus. Through research and extension services, it supports farmers and coffee communities across the country, translating scientific knowledge into practical tools. Institutions like this shape the future of Philippine coffee, and I hope they continue to receive the support they deserve. When they succeed, the entire industry benefits.

Coffee soon,

Tim

It was an honor to host this wonderful group at NCRDEC. Seeing everyone learn from each other reminded us of the beautiful ripple effects of collaboration. There is a unique beauty in watching farmers, processors, roasters, and cafe owners share the same space, realizing that every breakthrough on the farm elevates the flavor in the cup.

Salamat!
