15 May 2026โ€”Jet D. Cabrera, Bradley James C. Puerta, and Jermey Y. Teves, the three Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) students from the Cavite State University โ€“ Trece Martires City Campus officially concluded their On-the-Job Training (OJT) at the National Coffee Research, Development and Extension Center (NCRDEC).

The interns, who began their journey at the center on February 16, successfully completed the required 486 hours of professional service. Their tenure was marked by a significant contribution to the centerโ€™s digital infrastructure, improvement of the NCRDEC Information System (IS) to streamline the centerโ€™s operations, ranging from administrative tasks to specialized technical aspects.

Beyond their final output, the interns were also fully immersed in the "Seed-to-Cup" philosophy of the center, where they served as active participants in several training and cascading workshops that engaged them in hands-on activities focusing on the different processing methods, sorting, and cupping of coffee.

The interns also shared their enthusiasm for the centerโ€™s unique working environment. One intern noted that aside from the technical skills they applied, they had the chance to learn more about coffee and even experience making their own latte using the centerโ€™s espresso machine.

The impact of their work did not go unnoticed as Assistant Professor Angelbert D. Cortes, the NCRDEC Director, personally commended the performance of the three BSIT student-interns. Dir. Cortes highlighted their dedication and their ability to integrate IT solutions into the centerโ€™s specific research and administrative needs.

The three undergraduate students are now set to head back to their campus and finalize their degrees following their successful development of the digital platform for the operational efficiency of one of the countryโ€™s leading coffee RDE centers.
