Students that are a food handler, food vendor, or food business owner inside the campus are joining us for our seminar entitled โFood Safety Awareness and Workshop Training for Student Food Vendors in Cavite State University Main Campusโ, a learning event dedicated to promote safe food handling, proper hygiene practices, science behind spoilage, and a healthier community. ๐ฝ๏ธ
This seminar brings together experts to discuss and share essential principles that ensure every meal or dessertsโfrom preparation to servingโis safe and clean to sell to fellow students. This session will equip them with the knowledge and confidence to make smarter, safer choices in preparing or selling your food products.

Ms. Katrina Ysabel P. Garma, a fresh graduate of CAFENR Institute of Food Science and Technology - Cavite State University's BS Food Technology program, won 2nd Best Paper in the recently concluded 3rd Student Research Symposium organized by Cavite State University-Research Center and CvSU Bacoor City Campus.
Ms. Garma presented her undergraduate thesis titled โDevelopment of a Ready-to-Bake Cookie Mixture with Purple Yam (๐๐ช๐ฐ๐ด๐ค๐ฐ๐ณ๐ฆ๐ข ๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐ต๐ข) Powder as a Substitute for Flourโ, competing against eight other entries in the Undergraduate-ICT, Engineering, and Development Category.
She was guided in her research by her adviser, Ms. Aitee Janelle Reterta, and technical critic, Ms. Remilyn Concepcion.

Dr. Jason D. Braga, chairperson of CAFENR Institute of Food Science and Technology (IFST), and Mr. Lorenz Luis Panganiban (BS Food Technology student) participated in the 17th International Summer School for the UNโs Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Hiroshima held at the School of Applied Biological Science, Hiroshima University, from September 7-13, 2025.
The summer school aimed to disseminate the latest knowledge and technologies in sciences while fostering strong academic relationships among participating universities. These efforts support educational advancement and international research exchange in line with the UNโs SDG agenda.
As part of the program, Dr. Braga delivered a keynote talk during the SDG symposium with title โSustainable Strategy for Epilepsy Alleviation: A Synergistic Approach Using Prebiotics and GABA-Transaminase Inhibitorโ. Meanwhile, Mr. Panganiban engaged in various hands-on laboratory activities.
This participation is among IFSTโs initiatives to enhance the global competitiveness of their faculty and students and to further strengthen CvSUโs BS Food Technology program.
