🐝🤖 Harvard’s RoboBees are tiny flying robots inspired by real bees! Measuring just half the size of a paperclip, these microrobots use “artificial muscles” to flap their wings 120 times per second.

Originally designed for pollination, RoboBees are now being developed for life-saving missions like search-and-rescue, environmental monitoring, and even underwater exploration. Some models can perch using static electricity and transition seamlessly from swimming to flying!

🎄🚀 The first-ever Christmas celebration in space happened in 1968 aboard Apollo 8? This historic mission gave humanity the first glimpse of Earth from the Moon, a breathtaking “Earthrise” photo that reminded us just how small and connected we are.

On Christmas Eve, astronauts Frank Borman, Jim Lovell, and Bill Anders read the opening verses of Genesis, their words floating through the void of space to over a billion people in 64 countries. And just as they emerged from lunar orbit, Jim Lovell added a cheeky holiday surprise, announcing, “Please be informed, there IS a Santa Claus!” 🎅✨

👻 BOO! Meet Sophia 👻

This Halloween season, we’re excited to introduce Sophia, the world’s first humanoid robot with citizenship! Developed by Hanson Robotics, Sophia is no ordinary robot; she’s equipped with advanced AI that lets her recognize faces, hold conversations, and express a wide range of human-like emotions. First unveiled in 2016, she quickly gained fame for her uncanny resemblance to humans, sparking both intrigue and debate around AI’s future.

Sophia made history in 2017 when Saudi Arabia granted her honorary citizenship, making her the first robot to receive such recognition. She was designed to connect with people, learn from social interactions, and engage in conversations on complex topics like human rights and the future of artificial intelligence. Her journey has fueled discussions about ethics, robot rights, and the evolving relationship between humans and machines.

With her expressive face and curious ‘mind,’ Sophia may just be the perfect embodiment of a 21st-century Halloween—a fusion of innovation and mystery that challenges what it means to be truly human. 🎃

IT TOOK SOME TIME, BUT THE RESULTS ARE FINALLY IN!

During the recent LSHS intramurals, students showcased their skills and competitive spirit in the first-ever LSHS Esports tournament. The event featured two games: VALORANT and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang.

After intense matches, Team Ratbu—composed of Euniah Tatlonghari, Icai Sangco, Christian Angelo Orolfo, Gabriel Samonte, and Theodore Alano—secured the VALORANT championship, showing precise aim and strategy.

Meanwhile, in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Team Alagad ni Diwata—consisting of Heath Papa, Elijah Narvarte, Adriel Bawar, Nash Genega, Janrain Raro, and Ezekiel Tibayan—dominated the battlefield with great chemistry, claiming the championship.

Congratulations to all teams who participated and their incredible performances! Stay tuned for more thrilling events! 🎮🏆
