Ms. Abigail C. Gomez, Department Chairperson of DLMC, participated in a Panel Discussion on “AI, Ethics, and Equity: Shaping Responsible Innovation for Global Education” during the 6th International Conference on Engineering, Social Sciences and Humanities (ICESSU-2026) organized by the Institute for Educational Research and Publication (IFERP) Academy.

Held on April 27–28, 2026 in Manila, Philippines, the international conference brought together scholars, researchers, educators, and professionals from different parts of the world to exchange knowledge, research, and innovative ideas in the fields of engineering, social sciences, and humanities.

The Department of Languages and Mass Communication of Cavite State University – Imus Campus, guided by its Department Chairperson Abigail C. Gomez, successfully conducted the second session of its Film Masterclass on March 26, 2026, featuring filmmaker Marc John C. Guevarra as the invited resource speaker.

Held at the university’s Function Hall, the session focused on Film Editing and Post-Production Fundamentals. Students gained valuable insights into editing as narrative construction, continuity editing, rhythm and pacing, as well as sound design and post-production workflows. The discussion also highlighted the ethics and aesthetics of editing.

Organized under the subject Cognate 3: Introduction to Film and led by Course Instructor Mr. Rolando Y. Santiago Jr., the masterclass combined lecture and hands-on workshop activities, allowing students to apply their learning through practical exercises.

The participants were third-year BA Journalism students, who actively engaged in the session to enhance their understanding of visual storytelling and further develop their technical skills in filmmaking through real-world industry perspectives.

DLMC x IAWRT unite in protecting women journalists!

March 23, 2026, IAWRT President, Ms. Jola Diones, presented the mission and vision of IAWRT in its deep advocacy in protecting women journalists together with Ms. Mary Grace Gonzales and Ms. Leslie Anne N. Gatdula, both DLMC faculty and also members of LAWRT-Ph and some BA Journalism studentsd.

She discussed the humble beginnings of the organization together with its future plans and goals.

Ms. Jola aimed to plant the seeds of compassion of protecting our women journalists to each BA Journalism students and even non-academic and academic personnel.

Next activity in-line would be in May for the World Press Freedom Celebration.

LOOK: The Filmmaking Master Class for third-year BA Journalism students was conducted as part of the course COGNATE 3: Introduction to Film at Cavite State University Imus Campus. The activity was led by Mr. Rolando Y. Santiago Jr., instructor for the subject, as part of the students’ academic training in film production and visual storytelling.

During the session, Chester Alan Ebora served as the guest speaker and led the discussion, sharing his experiences and practical knowledge in filmmaking. Students were given the opportunity to learn about the fundamentals of film production, storytelling techniques, and the creative process behind creating compelling visual narratives.

The master class aimed to deepen the students’ understanding of filmmaking by combining theoretical concepts with real-world insights from industry practitioners, providing them with valuable perspectives beyond the classroom. 🎬
