BIL-Debate Society

Last May 22–23, Team 1BILivin Debate represented the school’s club at the Philippine Debate Open 2026, competing in the Asian Parliamentary format. The team was composed of Kai Biggs, Jerisha Go, and Yumile Raymundo.

The team concluded the tournament with a 1𝗪–4𝗟 record and a total of 1,291 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘀, placing 9𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗼𝗳 11 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘀 and 24𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗼𝗳 27 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗹.

Analyzing clashes and practicing comparative analysis in preparation for the Philippine Debate Open.

The BIL Debate Society successfully conducted its first day of training in preparation for the Philippine Debate Open. The session focused on developing participants’ ability to analyze competing narratives and effectively collapse arguments into clear and strategic comparative statements. Through structured drills, members engaged in impact weighing, identification of winning mechanisms, and the construction of coherent adjudicative stories. This initial session set a strong foundation for enhancing both analytical depth and strategic clarity as the team continues its preparation for the tournament.

We are proud to share the performance of our debaters at the recent PED XING Asian Parliamentary Debate Tournament!

🏆 BIL Team 1 – JM Go, Kailey Biggs, and Yumile Raymundo
✨ Broke as Reserve Team for the Novice Semifinals
✨ Secured Rank 6 out of 29 Novice Teams
✨ Earned an impressive 1055 Speaker Points
✨ Finished with a solid 2W – 2L record

Their consistency, composure, and strong speaker scores allowed them to stand among the top novice teams of the tournament. Truly a performance marked by grit and excellence.

The road to PED XING

Asian Parliamentary Debate starts NOW.

Today’s training session was intense, strategic, and full of powerful clashes as our debaters sharpened their skills in the Asian Parliamentary format, mastering case construction, POIs, rebuttals, and high-level framing.

From government benches to opposition blocks, every speaker pushed their limits. Arguments were tested. Logic was challenged. Confidence was built.

OFF TO A STRONG START 💪

📢 BIL-Debate Society held its first official meeting last Friday, August 8, 2025, in Room AAG. The session began with a short discussion on the different debate speaker roles and the proper structure of speech.

🎤After the discussion, two consecutive mock debates were conducted following the Asian Parliamentary Format. The meeting ended with the selection of participants who will represent BIL in the upcoming debate encounter.
