This medical mission served as Team PagpaLUNGga’s culminating activity for their Smoking Cessation campaign in Brgy. North Baluarte.

🏀 Waybi Basketball League Promotes a Smoke-Free North Baluarte

The Brgy. North Baluarte Court came alive on February 28, 2026 as community members gathered for the Waybi Basketball League, a one-day sports event that brought together players and spectators in a vibrant celebration of teamwork, camaraderie, and community spirit. “Waybi,” short for Walay Bisyo, reflects the core message of the initiative, to promote healthier lifestyles and encourage residents to stay away from harmful habits such as smoking.

Through friendly competition and active participation, the basketball league created a positive and engaging space where individuals of different ages could come together, enjoy sports, and strengthen connections within the community. Conducted in partnership with SK Chairman RJ Dillena, the activity highlighted how community-based recreational programs can serve as effective platforms for health promotion and awareness.

Beyond the excitement on the court, the event emphasized discipline, teamwork, and wellness, reinforcing the importance of choosing healthier and more active lifestyles that contribute to a stronger and more supportive community. The enthusiastic turnout and lively atmosphere reflected North Baluarte’s collective commitment to promoting a smoke-free and healthier future for everyone. 🏀🚭💜🌱

Participants, together with Team PagpaLUNGga and Ma’am Janelle, engaged in meaningful discourse, gaining insights on how to depend on one’s support system in order to promote a healthier, smoke-free community 💜

🚭 Third "Yosi, Yosi Bayai" Session Advances CBT Smoking Cessation in North Baluarte, Molo 🫁

The third "Yosi, Yosi Bayai" session, a cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)-based smoking cessation program, drew local smokers on March 7, 2026, from 8 AM to 12 NN 🕗 at the Daycare Center in North Baluarte, Molo 📍.

Led by guest speaker Ma'am Ma. Levy Anne Amosin-Hechanova, RPsy, President of Huzons Health Center 👩‍⚕️, the intimate gathering featured four targeted CBT exercises:

🔎 Trigger Awareness: Spotting cues that spark cravings.
🧠 Changing Thoughts: Reframing mindsets that fuel the habit.
✋ Control Techniques: Practical tools to manage urges.
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Benefits for Loved Ones: Reflecting on gains for family and community.

Participants engaged in personal reflection 💭 and small-group sharing 🗣️, gaining structured strategies to break free from smoking 🚭 and move toward healthier lives 💜.

PagpaLUNGga: CBT Workshop on Smoking Reduction

On March 7, 2025, as part of the PagpaLUNGga: Anti-Smoking Campaign organized by the West Visayas State University – College of Medicine, a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Workshop on Smoking Reduction was successfully conducted in Barangay North Baluarte, Molo, Iloilo City.

The workshop was facilitated by Levy Anne Amosin-Hechanova, MA, RPsy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) trained Licensed Psychologist, President & Chairman of Huzons Health and Psychological Center, who guided community members through practical CBT strategies to help them understand smoking triggers, manage cravings, and build healthier coping habits.

Through interactive discussions and behavioral exercises, participants learned how thoughts, emotions, and habits influence smoking behavior, empowering them to take steps toward smoking reduction and healthier living.

The activity was conducted in partnership with Huzons Health and Psychological Center and was attended by a few incorporators supporting the university’s Family and Community Medicine outreach initiative. 💙

Youth Take the Lead in “Community Action for a Smoke-Free Barangay” Forum 🚭✨

On February 28 at the Barangay North Baluarte Covered Court, the youth of North Baluarte gathered for an empowering forum titled “Community Action for a Smoke-Free Barangay,” where Dr. Dennis Dignadice, a specialist in Family and Community Medicine with a subspecialty in Hospice and Palliative Medicine, led an engaging discussion on the health effects of smoking, the dangers of second-hand smoke, and practical strategies for preventing smoking behaviors among young individuals, equipping participants aged 18 and below with knowledge and a renewed sense of responsibility to become advocates for a healthier, smoke-free community. 💜🌱
