Jalandonian secures spot in Live News Reporting tilt
John Nathan Bulquerin of Grade 11-Garnet of Jalandoni Memorial National High School (JMNHS) advanced to the grand finals of the K5 News FM Iloilo Live Reporting Competition Year 2.
The elimination round gathered student reporters from four school divisions—Iloilo City, Iloilo Province, Guimaras, and Passi City—testing their reporting skills, confidence, and composure.
Out of 25 participating schools, only 15 reporters advanced to the next round, with Bulquerin securing a spot in the finals and representing JMNHS.
For his elimination piece, Bulquerin covered the Sambuwa 2026: 1st PEKAF Iloilo Invitational Arnis Tournament, showcasing his ability to deliver timely sports news through live reporting.
Under the guidance of his coach, Ma’am Ma. Johanna J H. Hafundar, Bulquerin continued to demonstrate his preparation and confidence as a young journalist.
Adding to his recent achievements, Bulquerin also won the championship title in Hiligaynon News Reporting during Voices That Matter: The Art of Public Speaking on August 22.
The finalists will undergo a seminar-workshop on September 13 to further hone their reporting skills before the grand finals on September 27 at Robinsons Place Main, Iloilo.
Bulquerin will once again take the stage as he represents JMNHS in the final round of the live reporting competition.
