The La Paz National High School SDRRM, through SDRRM Head James Vincent Balondo, was honored to be invited by the Iloilo City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office for a Site Visit and Interview on Sea Level Rise held at Barangay Ortiz, City Proper Old Wharf.

The activity was led by Dr. Kidd together with Professor Emeritus Dr. Emma Porio of Ateneo de Manila University, Resilience Fellow Prof. Jessica Dator-Bercilla, representatives from the Public Information Office, OCDRRMO, Barangay Captain Shiela Doza, Tatay Rodolfo, and Tatay Albert who shared their experiences and stories about coastal erosion, storm surges, and the effects of climate change within their community.

The dialogue highlighted the importance of resilience, preparedness, timely information dissemination, organized evacuation, and collective action in reducing disaster risks and strengthening community adaptation against sea level rise and other hazards.

The LPNHS SDRRM would also like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Maโ€™am Che, Maโ€™am Donna, and Maโ€™am Fhannie for inviting and giving us the opportunity to participate in this meaningful activity.

LPNHS SDRRM continues to support initiatives that promote climate awareness, disaster preparedness, and youth involvement in building a safer and more resilient community for everyone.

Although Hantavirus cases are mostly reported outside the Philippines, preparedness is still the key to prevention and safety. Being informed helps us protect ourselves, our families, and our community from possible health risks.

๐Ÿ“Œ Keep surroundings clean
๐Ÿ“Œ Avoid contact with rodents and their droppings
๐Ÿ“Œ Practice proper sanitation
๐Ÿ“Œ Stay informed and aware of symptoms
