The Center for Research and Innovation in Science, Mathematics, and Education (CRISMEd) successfully conducted the 2nd Agency Research In-House Review on May 19, 2026 at the West Visayas State University Research and Extension Buildings.

The event gathered researchers, evaluators, faculty members, and guests in a meaningful exchange of innovative and impactful research initiatives across various disciplines.

A total of 𝟏𝟔 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐬 were presented in two clusters:

📚 𝟖 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐬 under the Interdisciplinary Studies Cluster

The program featured a plenary talk by 𝐌𝐫. 𝐕𝐢𝐣𝐢𝐭 𝐕𝐢𝐧𝐨𝐝 𝐍𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐲𝐚𝐥 of the Model Divine Mahila College–Quantum Science and Education Research Hub, New Delhi, India and WVSU Research Fellow, who shared valuable insights on helping students understand difficult quantum physics concepts better,

CRISMEd also expresses its sincere appreciation to the distinguished evaluators for their expertise and valuable feedback in strengthening the quality of the presented studies.

West Visayas State University researchers participated in the two-day Workshop on the Preparation of Full-Blown Proposals for the Grants-in-Aid Program held on April 29–30, 2026. The activity aimed to further enhance participants’ competencies in developing competitive and high-quality research proposals aligned with national funding priorities.

This initiative was made possible through the leadership of Dr. Greta G. Gabinete, Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Extension, and Dr. Geneveve P. Lachica, Director of the Center for Research and Innovation in Science, Mathematics, and Education (CRISMEd). The workshop featured an orientation on proposal requirements and forms, intensive writing sessions, and one-on-one mentoring with Balik Scientist Dr. Bernice Mae Yu Jeco-Espaldon, further strengthening the research proposal development capabilities of WVSU faculty and researchers.

The Center for Research and Innovation in Science, Mathematics, and Education (CRISMEd), in cooperation with the University Research and Development Center (URDC) of West Visayas State University, successfully conducted the hybrid seminar “Thermodynamics in Action: From Waste Heat Recovery to Solar Energy Conversion” on April 20, 2026.

The event gathered students, educators, researchers, and professionals to explore the real-world applications of thermodynamic principles in advancing sustainable and efficient energy systems. Discussions highlighted how science and engineering can help address global energy challenges through innovative and environmentally responsible solutions.

We extend our appreciation to our distinguished speakers:

Engr. La Verne Ramir D.T. Certeza and Dr. Bernice Mae Yu-Jeco Espaldon, for sharing their expertise on energy recovery technologies and renewable energy applications. Their insights emphasized how waste heat recovery systems and industrial energy optimization can significantly improve efficiency while reducing environmental impact.
