The West Visayas State University College of Agriculture and Forestry (WVSU CAF) has once again brought pride to the University after ranking Top 2 among the top-performing schools in the October 2025 Foresters Licensure Examination, as released by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) on Oct. 21, 2025.

WVSU CAF also proudly celebrates the achievements of its graduates, Jade Micah Lebuna Bangeles, who ranked 5th nationwide with a rating of 93.50%, and Bobby Jamili Maderse, who placed 6th with a rating of 93.35%.

WVSU CAF posted an 87.50% passing rate, with 49 passers out of 56 examinees, reaffirming its strong reputation for excellence in forestry education and research.

The PRC announced that 1,471 out of 2,054 examinees passed the licensure examination given by the Board for Foresters in various testing centers nationwide, including Baguio, Butuan, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legazpi, Lucena, Pagadian, Pampanga, Rosales, Tacloban, and Tuguegarao.

These accomplishments reflect the University’s continued commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and environmental stewardship, consistent with its mission to produce globally competitive and socially responsible professionals.

The Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT-U) visited West Visayas State University (WVSU) benchmarks exemplary practices in organizational structures, policies, curriculum implementation, as well as monitoring and evaluation processes aimed at enhancing instructional quality.
The ISAT-U delegation consisted of Dr. Corazon C. Corabal, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Maria Teresa C. Carbon, Director for Instructions; and Dr. Frisian Y. Causing, Director of the University Quality Assurance Center, accompanied by Mr. Mark G. Sologastua, Management and Audit Analyst I, and Ms. Barbie S. Saluba, Management and Audit Analyst III.
During the visit, the delegation actively engaged with several key offices, including the Quality Assurance Office, headed by Dr. Elizabeth A. Magallanes; and the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, under Dr. Ma. Asuncion Christine V. Dequilla. Additionally, Dr. Francis O. Pantino, director of the National Service Training Program (NSTP), and Noreen De la Cruz, the University Document Controller, were present during the discussions.
This benchmarking activity aims to strengthen ISAT-U’s institutional practices, particularly in academic standards and quality assurance mechanisms. It also fosters the exchange of best practices between institutions and broadens the knowledge of all participants, ultimately contributing to continuous institutional improvement.

All classes in all levels at West Visayas State University (main and external campuses) are suspended for the whole day today, October 15, 2025, to allow for building safety inspections following the earthquake felt this morning.
For the rest of the day, classes will be conducted through mediated instruction (asynchronous or synchronous). Work continues for the rest of the University.

All classes and student activities at West Visayas State University are suspended today, October 10, 2025 (Friday), following the directive of the Iloilo City Mayor after the strong earthquake. Conduct of classes in the College of Law shall be at the discretion of the Dean.

Faculty members are advised to observe Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA) and submit their Workload Assignment and Accomplishment (WAA) Forms accordingly.

A skeleton workforce will remain at the Administrative offices, except for the General Services and Security Offices, which will ensure campus safety.

A skeleton workforce will remain at the WVSU Medical Center to maintain frontline health services. The Physical Planning, Maintenance, and Development Office, Security Office, and Hospital Emergency Management System will assist in inspection, monitoring, and other essential operations.

Satellite campuses shall follow the directives of their respective LGUs.

Effective Immediately. Everyone is advised to stay safe and remain vigilant.

Day 2 of the Lecture Series with our Resource Person PROF. DR. LEE EUN HWA, Dean of Graduate School of Silla University (in Busan, South Korea) on September 26, 2025 on “Mapping the Curriculum of Competency- based Education”, was a huge success inspite of heavy rains brought by Typhoon “Opong”.

We are always grateful to Prof. Lee for sharing her expertise with us. I am also very proud of our faculty and students who were with us last Friday. We cannot afford to miss any of these lectures. These give new insights on how we can continuously improve our curriculum ascertaining what WVSU students can do not just learn.
