Call for Applications!
The Commission, in partnership with West Visayas State University, is pleased to announce the call for applications for the โDiploma in Teachingโ program.
This 24-unit program is specially designed for graduates of non-education degrees who aspire to become qualified educators in basic or higher education. Through a flexible blended learning approach, participants will engage in self-paced modules, live virtual sessions, practice-based assignments, and portfolio development. It will then culminate in a one-semester teaching internship, where participants will apply their competencies in authentic classroom settings under the guidance of critique teachers, supervisors, and experienced mentors.
Interested applicants must be nominated by their Sending Higher Education Institutions (SHEIs) and must submit all required documents on or before 13 March 2026.

Two West Visayas State University graduates and a faculty member are among the ten chosen fellows of the 22nd San Agustin Writers Workshop.
College of Education (COE) alumni John Frederic Bugayong and Cybelle Rio Jhane Hembra, along with COE faculty Dr. Michael Caesar Tubal, will participate in the creative nonfiction (Hiligaynon), poetry (Filipino), and creative nonfiction (English) categories, respectively.
The workshopโs panel is composed of Palanca Award-winning writers and critics, led by founding workshop director and Southeast Asian Writers Awardee John Iremil Teodoro.
The three-day event will be held at the Fray Luis de Leon Learning Commons from January 19 to 21, 2026.
The opening day on January 19 will feature the launch and presentation of eight books by previous writers and alumni of the workshop.
The annual workshop brings together writers in fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, and drama for intensive critique sessions led by nationally recognized writers and critics.
