The event will be held on May 21, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Fray Luis De Leon 4th Floor Learning Commons and the College of Business Conference Room.

Editors-in-chief of the two peer-reviewed journals of the University of San Agustin joined the Philippine Journal Editors Forum organized by the Department of Science and Technology – National Research Council of the Philippines (DOST-NRCP) on May 8, 2026 at the Heritage Hotel Manila in Pasay City.

Representing the university were 𝑨𝒖𝒈𝒖𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒊𝒂𝒏 editor-in-chief Ms. Rhounella Rhane Magpantay and 𝑺𝒄𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒇𝒊𝒄 𝑨𝒖𝒈𝒖𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒊𝒂𝒏 editor-in-chief Mr. Arvin Zulueta.

The forum gathered journal editors and managers from various institutions in the country to discuss journal management, publication sustainability, and strategies for maintaining publication quality and achieving international indexing standards. The event also fostered collaboration and exchange of best practices in academic publishing.

The Research and Publication Services (RPS), under the Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation, successfully conducted an online seminar titled “Utilizing Datasets for Journal Publication” on April 25, 2026, drawing participation from over a hundred members of the university community.

The event brought together a diverse group of participants, composed of academic, academic non-teaching, and non-academic personnel as well as graduate students of the University. The seminar provided valuable tips and insights on how to effectively use datasets to produce journal articles, contributing to the institution’s ongoing commitment to research productivity and excellence.

The seminar was facilitated by Dr. Erwine S. Dela Paz, a professor from the Ateneo de Manila University, whose expertise enriched the learning experience of all participants.

|𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒| Enhancing Thesis Advisers’ Capacity for Scholarly Publication

Day 2 of the 𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒔𝒊𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝑴𝒂𝒏𝒖𝒔𝒄𝒓𝒊𝒑𝒕 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑷𝒖𝒃𝒍𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑩𝒐𝒐𝒕𝒄𝒂𝒎𝒑 was productively facilitated on March 27, 2026 at the LS Training Center, Brgy. Tabucan, Mandurriao, Iloilo City, with thesis advisers from the College of Technology and the College of Liberal Arts (Departments of Biology and Chemistry).

The session focused on enhancing academic writing skills and guiding participants in converting theses and capstone projects into publishable manuscripts. Key topics included manuscript structuring and aligning with journal standards.

Dr. Rolando Pakingking, Dr. Maria Karmella Apaya, and Dr. Aris Larroder served as research mentors, sharing their expertise in scholarly writing and guiding participants in preparing manuscripts for publication.

The activity is part of the University Personnel Growth and Research Advancement for Development and Excellence (UPGRADE) Program of the Research and Publication Services under the Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation, reinforcing the University’s commitment to research excellence and scholarly publication.

|𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒| Guiding Faculty From Thesis to Publishable Manuscript

Day 1 of the 𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒔𝒊𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝑴𝒂𝒏𝒖𝒔𝒄𝒓𝒊𝒑𝒕 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑷𝒖𝒃𝒍𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑩𝒐𝒐𝒕𝒄𝒂𝒎𝒑 was successfully conducted today, March 26, 2026 at the LS Training Center, Brgy. Tabucan, Mandurriao, Iloilo City, gathering participants from College of Business, College of Nursing, Nutrition, and Dietetics, and College of Liberal Arts, Sciences, and Education.

The bootcamp focused on guiding thesis and dissertation advisers in transforming theses and dissertations into publishable manuscripts through mentoring sessions and academic writing workshops. Participants were introduced to key strategies in identifying appropriate research journals and aligning their work with publication standards.

The sessions were facilitated by research mentors Dr. Donne Jone Sodusta, Dr. Alexander Balsomo, Dr. Aurora Fe Bautista, Dr. Jonel Lañada, and Dr. Reymund Flores, who shared their expertise in academic writing and journal publication.

This capacity-building initiative is part of the University Personnel Growth and Research Advancement for Development and Excellence (UPGRADE) Program of the Research and Publication Services under the Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation, highlighting the institution’s commitment to strengthening research capability and promoting scholarly publication.
