Capacity Building for Non-Academic Personnel of the University of San Agustin

| The Research and Publication Services (RPS) is holding a Workshop on Research Proposal Making and Data Analysis today, June 23, at the LS Training Center in Brgy. Tabucan, Mandurriao, Iloilo City. Resource speaker Dr. Alexander J. Balsomo is leading the morning lecture, with one-on-one critiquing scheduled in the afternoon. Organizers aim to have all proposals completed by the end of the day.

The Research and Publication Services (RPS), in collaboration with the Human Resource Management Office (HRMO), will be conducting a Workshop on Research Proposal Making and Data Analysis for Non-Academic Personnel on June 23โ24, 2026, at the LS Training Center, Brgy. Tabucan, Mandurriao, Iloilo City.
The workshop brings together the project leaders from Batch 1 and Batch 2 of the Basic Research Workshop for Non-Academic Personnel to finalize their research proposals and analyze the data they have collected. This initiative aims to strengthen the research capabilities of the non-academic personnel of the University, specifically in completing quality research outputs for implementation and dissemination.

Workshop on Community-Based Research
Academic personnel are engaging in a Workshop on Community-Based Research at the Citadines Hotel, Iznart Street, Iloilo City, facilitated by Dr. Donne Jone Sodusta and Asst. Prof. Helen Grace Concepcion Fernandez of the University of the Philippines Visayas. The facilitators are sharing their expertise and experiences in conducting community-based research and projects, equipping participants with insights and strategies for developing responsive and impactful community-engaged initiatives.
This workshop is in collaboration with the Social Advocacy and Community Engagement Office (SACEO).

The Research and Publication Services (RPS), under the Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation (OVPRI), in partnership with the Social Advocacy and Community Engagement Office (SACEO), will conduct a "๐๐จ๐ซ๐ค๐ฌ๐ก๐จ๐ฉ ๐จ๐ง ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ-๐๐๐ฌ๐๐ ๐๐๐ฌ๐๐๐ซ๐๐ก" on June 19, 2026, at Citadines Hotel, Iznart Street, Iloilo City.
The workshop aims to deepen the academic personnelโs understanding of community-based research, enhance their skills in designing and implementing community-responsive studies, and foster meaningful partnerships that contribute to sustainable and transformative community development. As an expected output, participants will draft a research proposal for a community-based research project to be implemented for Academic Year 2026โ2027.

BRET Continues on Its Second Day
The Basic Research Ethics Training (BRET) 2026 enters its second and final day, bringing together participants for an enriching learning experience on the ethical conduct of research and responsible research practices.
Held on June 17โ18, 2026 at Sam's 21 Hotel, Diversion Road, Mandurriao, Iloilo City, the training is facilitated by Dr. Fred Guillergan and Dr. Joy Lizada, esteemed experts in research ethics, with Prof. Lerma Paris, Chair of the Research Ethics Monitoring Board (REMB) VI as the training coordinator.
Through this initiative, the University of San Agustin Research Ethics Review Committee (USA RERC), operating under the Research and Publication Services (RPS), Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation (OVPRI) continues to strengthen a culture of integrity, accountability, and excellence in research.

The Research and Publication Services (RPS), through the University of San Agustin Research Ethics Review Committee (USA RERC), will conduct the Basic Research Ethics Training (BRET) on June 17โ18, 2026 at Samโs 21 Hotel, Mandurriao, Iloilo City, facilitated by the Philippine Health Research Ethics Board (PHREB) of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).
The two-day training brings together selected University personnel who will be equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to ethically and effectively review research protocols. This initiative aims to strengthen the Universityโs pool of qualified research protocol reviewers and further promote excellence, integrity, and ethical standards in research.

Mr. Normon Laurista, Director of Research and Publication Services, Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation, University of San Agustin, served as a speaker in the parallel session on "Educational Policy, Curriculum Reform, and School Leadership" during the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) Centers Policy Research Network Summit held in Jakarta, Indonesia, on June 9โ11, 2026.
His talk provided a critical examination of reflective practice and its transformative role in enhancing school leadership, professional growth, and continuous improvement in educational settings.
The annual summit brings together educators, researchers, school leaders, and ministers of education from across the region to exchange research findings, innovations, and policies aimed at advancing education.

The book features 32 oral presentation and 15 poster presentation abstracts that were presented by the students from Colegio San Agustin Bacolod, University of Negros Occidental Recoletos, Colegio de Sto. Tomas-Recoletos, Colegio San Agustin Biรฑan, and University of San Agustin during the ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ held last March 27-28, 2025 at the University of San Agustin.
๐๐๐๐๐๐ is a biennial gathering of Augustinian student researchers that feature faculty-mentored research and scholarly works.

The Research and Publication Services, Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation of the University of San Agustin recognized the outstanding achievements of the winners of the U.P.G.R.A.D.E. 2.0 Oral Presentation, during the Awarding Ceremony held on May 23, 2026 at the 6th Floor, Hotel Sta. Monica. Awards were presented by Fr. Jonas Mejares, OSA, Vice President for Augustinian Formation and Mission; Mr. Normon Laurista, Director of Research and Publication Services; and Dr. Doralyn Dalisay, Director of the Center for Chemical Biology and Biotechnology (C2B2).

Twenty-eight (28) scholarly outputs from academic and non-academic personnel of the University of San Agustin were successfully presented during the UPGRADE 2.0 Oral Presentation held on May 21, 2026.
The event showcased innovative studies across various disciplines through clustered presentations designed to promote academic collaboration and knowledge exchange.
The ๐๐๐ง๐๐๐ฅ ๐๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ๐๐ซ, which focused on Natural and Physical Sciences, Mathematics, Engineering, Pharmacy, and Allied Medical Fields, was conducted at the College of Business Conference Room. Researchers under this cluster presented studies emphasizing scientific advancement, technological innovation, and evidence-based discoveries.
Meanwhile, the ๐๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ๐๐ง๐จ๐ฏ๐ ๐๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ๐๐ซ, which focused on Social Sciences, Humanities, Education, and Business, was divided into two categoriesโPure Qualitative and Quantitative and Mixed Methodsโand was held at the 4th Floor of the Fray Luis De Leon Learning Commons. Presenters shared diverse research findings addressing educational, social, and interdisciplinary concerns using various methodological approaches.
The UPGRADE 2.0 Oral Presentation served as an avenue for University personnel to disseminate research outputs, strengthen the culture of research, and encourage continued scholarly engagement within the academic community.
