๐๐๐๐ | CPU-RT Students Conduct Comprehensive Educational Site Visit at Western Visayas Medical Center
In a major initiative to align academic learning with actual healthcare operations, the ๐ญ๐ก๐ข๐ซ๐-๐ฒ๐๐๐ซ students of the Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy program from Central Philippine University (CPU), under the supervision of ๐๐'๐๐ฆ ๐๐ฒ๐๐ง๐ง๐ ๐๐ง๐๐ซ๐๐ ๐. ๐๐ฒ, successfully completed a comprehensive educational visit to ๐๐๐ฌ๐ญ๐๐ซ๐ง ๐๐ข๐ฌ๐๐ฒ๐๐ฌ ๐๐๐๐ข๐๐๐ฅ ๐๐๐ง๐ญ๐๐ซ (๐๐๐๐) on August 10, 2026.
The structured study tour aimed to expose students to the complexities of clinical workflows, advanced diagnostic technologies, and institutional healthcare standards. WVMC is widely recognized in the region for its highly equipped, fully developed facilities, most notably its state-of-the-art
During the facility tour, the students were given an exclusive look into the day-to-day operations and high-standard protocols of WVMCโs Pulmonary Unit. The immersion allowed the CPU-RT students to observe advanced diagnostic lung function equipment, specifically the body plethysmograph, and the precise testing protocols utilized by a practicing Respiratory Therapist performing Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs). By witnessing live, patient-centered clinical workflows, the third-year students gained a deeper understanding of the vital role respiratory therapists play in both critical care and long-term pulmonary management.
The site visit served as an essential benchmark for the students, transforming textbook theories into visible, practical medical operations. Beyond technical expertise, the visit featured an interactive educational session focused on the core tenets of Pulmonary Rehabilitation. ๐๐๐๐ฅ๐๐ฒ, shared crucial insights on the structural importance of the course, its clinical purpose, and highly emphasized the necessity of tailored therapeutic exercises and comprehensive patient education in restoring optimal lung functionโ"๐ต๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐," Ma'am Maximo (2026) stressed, highlighting the individualized care required for pulmonary patients.
The leadership of the Respiratory Therapy Department extends its formal appreciation to the Director ๐๐ซ. ๐๐จ๐ฌ๐๐ฉ๐ก ๐๐๐๐ง ๐. ๐๐ข๐๐จ๐ฅ๐จ, Head of Pulmonary Department ๐๐ซ. ๐๐ก๐๐ ๐๐ง๐ง๐ ๐. ๐๐๐ฅ๐ข๐ฌโfor conceptualizing the program and granting RT students the invaluable opportunity to experience pulmonary rehabilitation firsthandโand the entire clinical staff of Western Visayas Medical Center for their warm accommodation and for providing invaluable professional insights to the next generation of healthcare leaders.
May these inspiring words serve as a lifelong motivation for the third-year Centralians to continue striving for professional excellence. ๐๐๐จ๐ฏ๐ ๐๐ฅ๐ฅ, to live by the core value of true medical healthcare: ๐ฌ๐๐ซ๐ฏ๐ข๐๐.๐๏ธ
