In continuation of their recent talk show episode, the 4th year BS Tourism Management program held its final episode today, May 26, at the SSB Hall.
Gathering the 4th year class of the program, todayโs episode of The Captain's Table: A Real Talk on Cruise Career featured Ms. Mary Jean Aldema, an alumna from the pioneer batch of the program, who shared her experiences of life on board a cruise ship. She reminded future cruisers to manage their expectations, emphasizing that life at sea is far different from what many imagine and often goes beyond the glamorous reality portrayed.
As the final episode of the talk show concluded, the Adventuristas left equipped with valuable insights and a clearer understanding of what awaits them in the cruise industry.

ISAT U Graduate School's regional creative writing workshop, โHiraya,โ concluded its two-day run with an awarding ceremony recognizing outstanding literary pieces and the distribution of certificates of participation to attendees.
The event gathered aspiring writers, educators, and literature enthusiasts in a celebration of creativity and expression under the theme, โHabi ng Isipan, Retorika at Alab sa Yaman ng Pagsulat.โ
The closing ceremony highlighted the participantsโ outputs from the workshop, honoring selected works for their excellence and creativity while commemorating the successful culmination of the regional literary event.

Distinguished Carlos Palanca Memorial Awardee, Prof. Noel Galon De Leon, led the dayโs sessions, immersing participants in discussions on creative expression and the technicalities of publication.

Featuring talks on the introduction to literary elements and the fundamentals of creative writing, the first day of Hiraya Regional Training Workshop on Creative Writing ended with a session entitled "Tech Words to Tech World," which provided the delegates with enrichment on navigating the meticulous process of creative writing in the presence of technology.
Held at the Audio-Visual Room of the N-Building on May 22, the first session of the event featured an interactive lecture by Professor Early Sol Gadong on the fundamentals of creative writing, including talks on finding inspiration and developing ideas on creative writing.
Professor Dulce Maria V. Deriada anchored the second session with a lecture on fundamentals and tips on writing fiction, creative nonfiction, and poem writing.
Gadong and Deriada, speakers for the first and second session, are both University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) creative writers and Palanca Awardees.
Meanwhile, Dr. Ramil G. Lumauag, Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) Director and Campus Administrator, served as the speaker for the third session and focused on the use of technology in creative writing, including the ethical considerations of using artificial intelligence (AI).
Bringing together teachers from various academic institutions alongside various professionals, the creative writing workshop is set to hold its final day tomorrow, May 23.

The 4th year BS Tourism Management students of Iloilo Science and Technology University โ Iloilo City Campus engaged in a fun and insightful talk show on cruise careers today at the universityโs SSB Hall.
The talk show, entitled โThe Captainโs Table: A Real Talk on Cruise Career,โ featured firsthand onboard cruise experiences shared by their guest, Ms. Sofia Celeste E. Sarino, who is already a familiar figure in the program. During the session, she answered questions regarding life at sea and how she navigated the demands of the career, including adapting to cultural differences and working in a diverse environment.
โYou really have to reach a level of tolerance wherein you can still work together harmoniously despite your differences,โ she shared.
The talk show was hosted by the senior year students of the program as part of their final requirement in CRE 3 โ Cruise Tourism, under the supervision of Ms. Angeline Basco. Furthermore, the next and final episode of the talk show is set to take place on April 26, 2026.

The Regional IHUB and Arcยณ - Advanced Regional Computing Core were officially launched at the ISATU Research Hub of Iloilo Science and Technology University in Iloilo City through a ribbon-cutting ceremony and religious blessing attended by university officials, partners, and guests on May 18, 2026.
The Western Visayas Regional Innovation Hub was opened at the fifth floor of the Research Hub, ISAT U New Site following a soft launch and blessing ceremony held on the same day.
The event was attended by representatives from Department of Science and Technology Region VI, Department of Trade and Industry Region VI, Department of Information and Communications Technology Region VI, and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry Iloilo.
The facility was established to support local startups by providing workspace, mentorship, networking, and business matching services to help strengthen innovation and economic growth in Western Visayas.
