Learning Continues as JNCHS Learners Embrace Hinay Mode During Class Suspension

JANIUAY, ILOILO — Despite the suspension of face-to-face classes on Friday, July 24, 2026, due to inclement weather, learners of Janiuay National Comprehensive High School (JNCHS) continued their educational journey from the safety of their homes through the implementation of Hinay Mode under the Department of Education's Education in Emergencies (EiE) framework. The initiative ensured that learning remained uninterrupted while prioritizing the safety, health, and well-being of learners and school personnel amid adverse weather conditions.

Following the guidance of DepEd Order No. 014, s. 2026, teachers facilitated flexible learning activities appropriate to the prevailing situation. Instead of conducting regular classroom instruction, learners accomplished competency-based tasks at home using available learning resources and maintained communication with their teachers through accessible online platforms and class group chats. The activities were carefully designed to reinforce previously taught competencies while remaining manageable and responsive to the challenges brought about by the weather.

School officials likewise reminded learners and parents that safety remains the foremost priority during emergencies. While classes may be suspended, education does not stop. Through the collective efforts of teachers, parents, and learners, JNCHS continues to uphold its commitment to delivering quality education while adapting to the realities brought about by weather-related disruptions.

JANIUAY, ILOILO — Reinforcing its commitment to curriculum fidelity and quality classroom assessment, the Janiuay National Comprehensive High School (JNCHS) Quality Assurance Team convened for a collaborative meeting after class on Thursday, July 23, 2026, to strengthen the implementation of quality assurance mechanisms for written works, performance tasks, summative tests, and term examinations. The professional learning session featured focused presentations from the school's Master Teachers. Ma'am Nemia L. Alerta discussed the integration of Higher-Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) into classroom assessments, emphasizing cognitive rigor, critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and the development of PISA-like assessment items that encourage learners to apply knowledge in authentic and real-life contexts rather than relying solely on memorization. She underscored the importance of designing assessment tasks that cultivate problem-solving, interpretation, evaluation, and evidence-based reasoning consistent with the goals of the revised K to 12 curriculum.

Meanwhile, Sir Leopoldo P. Quiñon Jr. presented the Social Content Guidelines in assessment construction. He reminded the team to ensure that all assessment materials uphold fairness, inclusivity, gender sensitivity, cultural responsiveness, and respect for diversity while avoiding stereotypes, bias, discriminatory language, and inappropriate content. He emphasized that assessment should not only measure learning competencies but also reflect ethical, socially responsible, and learner-centered educational practices.

Sir Rene B. Cordon facilitated the discussion on the standards and technical guidelines in test construction, revisiting the essential principles of developing high-quality assessment tools. His presentation highlighted competency alignment, appropriate table of specifications, balanced cognitive levels, clarity of test directions, quality item construction, objectivity, validity, reliability, and adherence to the provisions of DepEd Order No. 015, s. 2026 and the Curriculum Implementation Division (CID) Quality Assurance Tool. He emphasized that every assessment should faithfully measure the intended learning competencies while maintaining technical accuracy and fairness.

Throughout the meeting, participants reaffirmed that assessment must always follow the curriculum—not the other way around. The collaborative discussions reinforced the importance of developing teacher-made, competency-based, curriculum-aligned assessments that accurately reflect the lessons delivered in the classroom and provide meaningful evidence of learners' achievement.

In his message, Dr. Marlo C. Quidato emphasized that quality assurance is a shared professional responsibility that requires continuous collaboration, technical expertise, and commitment from every teacher. He encouraged the team to maintain the highest standards in assessment development, ensuring that every classroom assessment contributes to improved instruction and meaningful learner outcomes.

Through initiatives such as this, Janiuay National Comprehensive High School continues to strengthen its culture of instructional excellence, collaborative leadership, and evidence-based educational practice. By investing in continuous professional learning and rigorous quality assurance, the school remains committed to delivering assessments that are valid, reliable, curriculum-driven, and responsive to the diverse learning needs of every JNCHS learner.

JNCHS Strengthens Assessment Quality Through Collaborative Review of DepEd Order No. 015 and CID Quality Assurance Tool

JANIUAY, ILOILO — As part of its continuing commitment to excellence in curriculum implementation and classroom assessment, Janiuay National Comprehensive High School (JNCHS) conducted a collaborative meeting today, Wednesday, July 22, 2026, to revisit the provisions of DepEd Order No. 015, s. 2026 and the Curriculum Implementation Division (CID) Quality Assurance Tool for Written Works, Performance Tasks, Summative Tests, and Term Examinations developed by the Schools Division of Iloilo.

The meeting was spearheaded by Dr. Marlo C. Quidato, Principal IV, and Dr. Teresita B. Provido, Assistant Principal II, together with the school's Master Teachers: Ma'am Nemia L. Alerta, Sir Rene B. Cordon, and Sir Leopoldo P. Quiñon Jr. The collaborative session focused on strengthening the school's assessment practices in preparation for the upcoming Summative Test 2, which is scheduled on July 28, 2026, in accordance with Division Memorandum No. 235, s. 2026.

During the meeting, the team revisited the key provisions of DepEd Order No. 015, s. 2026, emphasizing that classroom assessments must remain teacher-made, competency-aligned, curriculum-based, and reflective of the lessons actually covered. Special attention was given to the proper design and implementation of summative assessments and performance tasks to ensure that they accurately measure learners' attainment of the prescribed learning competencies.

The participants likewise reexamined the CID Quality Assurance Tool, which serves as the standard framework for evaluating assessment materials before classroom implementation. Discussions centered on the major quality indicators, including alignment and coverage, assessment design, cognitive demand, technical quality, and scoring, fairness, and ethics. These standards ensure that every written work, performance task, summative test, and term examination is valid, reliable, learner-centered, and compliant with national assessment policies.

The collaborative review also reinforced the importance of quality assurance for performance tasks, ensuring that authentic assessments are supported by clear instructions, well-defined success criteria, appropriate scoring rubrics, and meaningful opportunities for learners to demonstrate higher-order thinking and real-world application of knowledge and skills.

Dr. Quidato emphasized that maintaining high standards in classroom assessment is a shared professional responsibility among school leaders, Master Teachers, and classroom teachers. He highlighted that rigorous quality assurance promotes fairness, consistency, and integrity in the assessment process while ensuring faithful implementation of the curriculum.
