American Corner Iloilo

American Corner Iloilo AC (American Corner) – CPU is housed at the third floor of the Henry Luce III Library. Central Phi It is designed to make available to a wide range of people.

AC – CPU was formally opened and inaugurated on February 11, 1985 by Mr. Herwald Morton, Director, USIS and Counselor of Embassy for Public Affairs. Library Resources (Print and Online), DVDs Tapes and other materials for use in American Studies courses and in courses with American content and to those interested in American Studies – American culture, institutions and society. The AC has a new added collection, the library resources for kids, and also board games for students to use. These board games can be therapeutic, it can also help develop critical thinking or mental challenges that don’t always get with every day routine of students. AC may also serve as the venue for seminars in American Studies, and as a focal point at which visitors may spend time in campus with students and faculty – Fulbright and East West Center lecturers, Asia Foundation experts and other American and Filipino specialist in American Studies. Its materials are primary interest to University students and faculty, professionals and businessmen. Interested users outside of CPU are welcome to utilize the resources of the Center, free of charge. The materials are intended for use of the AC premises. However, some limited circulation maybe possible.

Kickstarting the Pitch: AC Iloilo launches FREEDOM250 Football Friendship Tournament 2026
On Monday, July 13, 2026, American Corner Iloilo (ACI) kicked off the AC Iloilo Football Friendship Tournament 2026 at the Henry Luce III Library, American Corner Iloilo under the theme FREEDOM250. The opening day set a powerful foundation for cross-regional sports development, highlighted by warm welcomes from CPU President Rev. Dr. Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy and a celebrated partnership address by Dr. Ma. Cynthia T. Peleña (Director of CPU Libraries and ACI) alongside Ms. Maria Cristeta R. Llacuna (Director of the MMSU Library System and AC Batac).
The event immediately shifted from ceremony to strategy with a dynamic "Meet the Experts" panel discussion, serving as the perfect launchpad for grassroots football and futsal dialogue. Seasoned professionals Mr. Michael Kevin Goco (FIFA Master Alumni), Engr. Marc Hermel G. Agriam (CPU Sports Director), Dr. James Paul T. Madigal (MMSU Futsal Coach), and Dr. Robert A. Salvador (MMSU Football Coach) engaged in an active forum with student-athletes, local clubs like Iloilo United FC, Cabatuan, and AlleyKicks, and partners from AC Batac—sparking vital conversations on athletic management and sports science just before the tournament matches officially take the field.

Get ready for five exciting days of football, friendship, and cultural exchange as American Corner Iloilo brings together student-athletes, coaches, and football enthusiasts for the AC Iloilo Football Friendship Tournament 2026!

From July 13–17, 2026, participants will engage in inspiring discussions with sports experts, friendly football matches, and a culminating awards ceremony that celebrate teamwork, leadership, and the unifying spirit of sports.

The tournament opens with an inspiring panel discussion featuring sports experts, followed by three days of friendly football games promoting camaraderie, respect, and fair play among participating teams. The event concludes with the recognition of outstanding athletes and teams, a celebration of sportsmanship.

As part of the Freedom250 celebration, this program highlights the enduring values of friendship, inclusion, cultural exchange, and international cooperation through the universal language of sport.

📚✨ CELEBRATING 2025 BOOK WEEK IN FULL COLOR at CENTRAL! ✨📚

American Corner Iloilo proudly partnered with Central Philippine University Elementary Department and the Henry Luce III Library for this year’s 2025 Book Week Celebration—a joyful tribute to reading, imagination, and creative expression!

As part of the festivities, AC Iloilo set up an interactive photo booth and activity display, giving learners a fun space to explore books, answer quick trivia, enjoy board games, and dive into engaging learning tools. The booth quickly became a favorite stop for students, sparking curiosity and promoting critical thinking through play.

The celebration kicked off with the lively Book Character Parade, followed by a campus program and the opening of various booths and exhibits—making December 2 a memorable day for the CPU Elementary community.

Through this collaboration, American Corner Iloilo continues its mission of encouraging a love for reading, supporting creativity, and bringing enriching learning experiences closer to young readers.
