𝗜𝗡 𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗦 | A shared commitment to accessible and community-centered healthcare took a significant step forward as WVSU President Dr. Joselito F. Villaruz led the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement between West Visayas State University Medical Center (WVSUMC), the Municipality of Janiuay, and the Municipal Health Office of Janiuay.
Joining the ceremony were Hon. Paulino M. Parian, Municipal Mayor of Janiuay; Dr. Maritess Margarico-Clarito, Municipal Health Officer; Dr. Dave Endel Gelito III, Medical Center Chief of WVSUMC; and Dr. Ruth Mary S. Pada, Chairperson for Extension Services of WVSUMC.
The partnership reflects a shared commitment to improving community health and well-being through accessible, community-oriented, and family-centered healthcare initiatives, advancing public service and meaningful engagement beyond the University.

𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞 | West Visayas State University (WVSU) researchers were recognized among the Top Three Research Poster Presenters (Faculty Category) during the 58th Association of Philippine Medical Colleges (APMC) Annual Convention held at the EVM Convention Center Lobby, Quezon City.
The award was conferred on Dr. Ma. Pilar S. Malata, Dr. Maria Kristina G. Almonte, Dr. Ruel E. Malata, and Prof. Lerma De Llana-Paris for their research titled “Effectiveness of a Self-Injury Protocol Training on the Knowledge, Attitudes, Confidence, and Competence among High School Teachers, Nurses and Staff.” Their study highlights the importance of strengthening the capacity of school personnel to respond effectively to student mental health concerns.
WVSU congratulates the researchers for this achievement, which reflects the University's continuing commitment to impactful research, innovation, and evidence-based practices that contribute to education and health development.

A team of researchers composed of 𝗗𝗿. 𝗠𝗮. 𝗣𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗦. 𝗠𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗮, 𝗗𝗿. 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮 𝗞𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗮 𝗚. 𝗔𝗹𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲, 𝗗𝗿. 𝗥𝘂𝗲𝗹 𝗘. 𝗠𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗮, and 𝗟𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮 𝗟. 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘀, 𝗠𝘀𝗣𝗛 received a Certificate of Recognition during the 𝟱𝟴𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲𝘀 (𝗔𝗣𝗠𝗖) 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 for being among the Top Three (3) Research Poster Presenters (Faculty Category).
The award was conferred in recognition of their outstanding research entitled “Effectiveness of a Self-Injury Protocol Training on the Knowledge, Attitudes, Confidence, and Competence among High School Teachers, Nurses and Staff.” The study highlighted the importance of equipping school personnel with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively respond to self-injury concerns among students.
The recognition was presented during the convention held at the EVM Convention Center Lobby, Central Avenue, Quezon City, under the theme “Medical Education at the Crossroads: Which Way to Go?”
The achievement underscores the researchers’ commitment to advancing evidence-based practices in education and health, contributing valuable insights toward strengthening mental health support systems in schools.

Faculty, staff, students, and stakeholders are encouraged to visit the onsite service centers and avail of membership registration and record updating, Virtual Pag-IBIG services, loan applications, savings program transactions, Loyalty Card Plus processing, and consultations on housing opportunities and other Pag-IBIG benefits. Services will be available until 4:00 p.m. today, and will resume at 9:00 a.m. tomorrow.
