Formerly CPU-Affiliated Renewable Energy Center CPU-AREC served as one of the Affiliated Renewable Energy Centers of the DOE for Western Visayas from Dec 1989 to Dec 2017 (28 years). Project Leader: JERIEL G.

It ceased to be an AREC because of policy change at the DOE which precluded private HEIs from serving as ARECs. CPU-AREC (Central Philippine University-Affiliated Renewable Energy Center) is a joint project of Central Philippine University (CPU) and the Philippine Dept. of Energy (DOE) tasked to promote the widespread use of renewable energy in the islands of Panay and Guimaras. The Center is under the outreach umbrella of the CPU College of Engineering, Iloilo City. ARECs used to be known as ANECs (Affiliated Non-conventional Energy Centers). MILITAR
