The gathering critically examined decades of US hegemony that sustains exploitative conditions in the country, analyzed the US-led Pax Silica alliance and its goal to secure critical AI resources for military dominance, and addressed the alarming plan to convert 1,600 hectares of local land into an industrial hub that would channel our national resources toward foreign interests.

It brought together youth and community members to raise collective awareness and stand in defense of Philippine sovereignty.

The ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ” ๐’๐ข๐ง๐ž๐€๐ˆ ๐“๐š๐ฅ๐ค๐ฌ successfully concluded this afternoon, July 2, 2026, at the Regional iHub, ISAT U in Lapaz, Iloilo City. Co-presented by Youth First Initiative Philippines, Inc., the forum served as a multi-sectoral consultation on the socio-technological impacts of artificial intelligence.

Representing the College of Communication Student Council (COCSC), ๐๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ข๐ง๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐Œ๐š๐ง๐š๐ ๐ž๐ซ ๐‘๐ฒ๐ณ๐š ๐. ๐„๐ฌ๐ญ๐ข๐ฆ๐š๐ซ and ๐€๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐š๐ง๐ญ ๐’๐ž๐œ๐ซ๐ž๐ญ๐š๐ซ๐ฒ ๐ƒ๐ž๐ฑ๐œ๐ž๐ž๐Ÿ๐š๐ข๐ญ๐ก ๐†๐š๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ž๐ ๐จ attended the event to participate in the discussion.

The program featured three core focus groups addressing the future of AI:

โ€ข AI: Kaupod ukon kasumpong? (Partner or Rival?): Assessing AI as a collaborative asset versus a competitive threat.
โ€ข Ano ang mga dapat bantayan? (What to Watch Out For): Identifying ethical and operational risks within the wider scope of AI.
โ€ข Paano ta ini padakuon? (How to Nurture and Scale It): Mapping out strategies to effectively and responsibly utilize AI in the community.

Following the breakout sessions, the three groups presented their comprehensive syntheses. The event then transitioned into an executive networking segmentโ€”Kape, Koneksyon, kag Kolaborasyon (Coffee, Connection, and Collaboration)โ€”aimed at solidifying sustainable, cross-sector partnerships for future digital initiatives.
