What was once known and celebrated as the College of Hospitality Management (CHM) now embarks on a bold new journey as the College of Business, Management and Sustainable Development (CBMSD), marking a historic milestone in the continuing transformation of Iloilo State University of Fisheries Science and Technology (ISUFST). Approved through Board of Regents Resolution No. 334, s. 2026, the initiative unifies the former CHM of the Di**le and Dumangas Campuses, the College of Management (COM) of the San Enrique Campus, and the College of Management (CM) of the Main CampusβPoblacion Site under a single academic identity, signifying a shared commitment to excellence, innovation, and sustainable progress.
For generations of students, alumni, faculty members, and industry partners who have built memories and milestones under the CHM banner, the transition is both sentimental and inspiring. While the name changes, the values of service, professionalism, and academic distinction that shaped countless hospitality champions remain firmly intact. More importantly, the establishment of CBMSD broadens opportunities for learners, equipping them with competencies in business, management, entrepreneurship, and sustainabilityβfields that are increasingly vital in addressing contemporary social, economic, and environmental challenges.
The creation of CBMSD reflects ISUFST's responsiveness to the evolving landscape of higher education. It supports the Commission on Higher Education's ACHIEVE Agenda, which encourages institutions to become more adaptive, globally competitive, and development-oriented. At the same time, it reinforces the university's commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in advancing quality education, decent work and economic growth, responsible production and consumption, climate action, sustainable communities, and strategic partnerships. As ISUFST turns the page to this new chapter, CBMSD emerges not merely as a renamed college, but as a renewed promise to develop business leaders, innovators, and changemakers who will help build a more sustainable future.
