Yesterday at the La Paz Plaza Covered Gym, nag-upod ang aton USWAG Scholars kag USWAG Scholarship Program Office Staff sa opening program sang Iloilo City Linggo ng Kabataan 2026 sang SK Federation sang siyudad.

Isa ini ka oportunidad para sa aton mga iskolar nga mag-upod, makig-connect, kag mangin kabahin sang mas daku nga youth community sang Iloilo.

Padayon kita, mga Iskolar. Padayon sa pag-upod, pagserbisyo, kag pag-uswag! 💙

Para kay Chris John E. Pelaez, waay gid niya ginahunahuna nga mangin USWAG Scholar siya.

Bilang pinakabata sa walo ka mag-utod, nga may amay nga laborer kag iloy nga housewife, kabalo siya nga indi mahapos ang pagpadayon sa kolehiyo. Pero sang nangin kabahin siya sang USWAG Scholarship Program, nabuhinan ang kabudlayan kag mas nakafocus siya sa iya handum.

Subong, isa na siya ka Cum Laude graduate sang Iloilo Science and Technology University, Bachelor of Industrial Technology major in Electrical Technology, kag isa man ka Civil Service Professional passer.

Para kay Chris John, indi lang ini iya kaugalingon nga kadalag-an. Pamatuod ini nga kon hatagan sang oportunidad ang kabataan nga may handum, madamo sila sang mahimo maabot.

Madamo gid nga salamat, Chris John, sa pagpa-remind sa aton nga ang isa ka oportunidad mahimo mangin sinugdanan sang mas daku nga handum.

This year, in partnership with Samahan ng Bagong Kabataan and Uswag Scholars Association, the SKY Awards 2026 celebrates the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Councils and Youth Organizations of Iloilo City whose projects have transformed ideas into action and aspirations into meaningful change.

Like an origami creation, every project is shaped by purpose, creativity, participation, and commitment. Each fold represents a decision to serve, each crease reflects a challenge overcome, and every finished piece tells a story of young people making a difference in their communities.

The SKY Awards 2026 is a project-based recognition program, with each participating SK Council and Youth Organization submitting ONE (1) project for evaluation. The awards recognize projects that demonstrate meaningful impact, innovation, youth participation, sustainability, and potential to become a best practice.
