The research highlights the discovery of amylase-producing bacteria from the gut of flying fish (𝘊𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘭𝘰𝘱𝘰𝘨𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘮𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘶𝘴) Specifically, the ACoL20 strain (a type of 𝘉𝘢𝘤𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘶𝘴) showed incredible potential for breaking down starch, making it a promising candidate for improving fish nutrition and advancing biotechnology.

“𝘽𝙞𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙜𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙢𝙞𝙘𝙧𝙤𝙗𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙨𝙚 𝙨𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙡 𝙨𝙮𝙣𝙙𝙧𝙤𝙢𝙚 (𝙇𝙎𝙎) 𝙞𝙣 𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙧𝙤𝙫𝙚 𝙘𝙧𝙖𝙗𝙨, 𝙎𝙘𝙮𝙡𝙡𝙖 𝙨𝙥𝙥.”

Her study is a game-changer for aquaculture, identifying that LSS is driven by gut dysbiosis and opportunistic bacteria rather than a single pathogen. It provides our farmers with vital new tools like BMI and microbial markers for early detection.
