𝗪𝗘𝗦𝗧 𝗠𝗔𝗦𝗞𝗢𝗠 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗕𝗘𝗦𝗧! 🏆

A proud moment for 𝗪𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘆𝗮𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 as 𝗘𝗱𝗲𝗹𝘆𝗻 𝗝𝗼𝘆 𝗔𝗹𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗱𝗲 of 𝗕𝗔 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 4-𝗕 takes the championship in the 88.7 𝗞5 𝗡𝗲𝘄𝘀 𝗙𝗠 𝗜𝗹𝗼𝗶𝗹𝗼 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 - 𝗧𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗼𝗿𝘆, held yesterday at Robinson’s Place Iloilo.

Edelyn’s performance earned her the top spot among the competing student broadcasters, showcasing her skills, preparation, and passion for broadcasting.

As this year’s champion, she will represent Iloilo and carry the name of WVSU in the 𝗞5 𝗡𝗲𝘄𝘀 𝗙𝗠 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿-𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 - 𝗧𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗼𝗿𝘆 this coming November 8.

We also extend our appreciation to her coach, 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳. 𝗥𝗮𝗳𝗳𝘆 𝗦. 𝗚𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗻, for his guidance and support throughout the competition.

𝗔𝗜𝗥𝗪𝗔𝗩𝗘𝗦 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗔𝗦𝗣𝗜𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦 𝗧𝗔𝗞𝗘 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗦𝗣𝗢𝗧𝗟𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧 📡✨

First-year Broadcasting students stepped beyond the classroom through 𝗔𝗜𝗥𝗪𝗔𝗩𝗘𝗦 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗔𝗦𝗣𝗜𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘂𝗺, gaining new insights and firsthand exposure to the world of broadcasting.

The event was made possible through the leadership of 𝗘𝗱𝗶𝘇𝘇𝗮 𝗟𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗱𝗮 and 𝗥𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘁 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗮 𝗖𝗿𝘂𝘇, Event Chairpersons, and the collective dedication of the entire 𝘽𝙧𝙤𝙖𝙙𝙘𝙖𝙨𝙩 𝙂𝙪𝙞𝙡𝙙. Their hard work, collaboration, and commitment brought together an engaging experience that allowed students to learn, connect, and take their first steps toward their aspirations in broadcasting.

𝐄𝐗𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐀𝐈𝐑𝐖𝐀𝐕𝐄𝐒🎙️

The Broadcast Guild continued its 𝗔𝗶𝗿𝘄𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘂𝗺 yesterday, September 9, with a guided tour that brought our freshies closer to the spaces where broadcasting happens. From the Radio Laboratory and TV Laboratory to the DYWV stations, the students got a firsthand glimpse of the facilities, tools, and environments that turn ideas into stories heard and seen by an audience.

But the learning did not stop at the tour. The freshies also got to put their creativity and broadcasting instincts to the test through an on-the-spot radio drama session, challenging them to think quickly, work together, and bring a story to life using nothing but their voices and imagination.

From stepping inside the labs to stepping behind the mic, the experience gave our aspiring broadcasters a taste of what awaits them beyond the classroom.

The College of Communication welcomed 𝗠𝘀. 𝗣𝗮𝘂𝗹𝗮 𝗝𝗮𝗻𝗲 𝗘𝗹𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗮𝘆𝗼, BA Broadcasting alumna and reporter and news writer at Aksyon Radyo Iloilo, as the guest speaker for “𝗔𝗜𝗥𝗪𝗔𝗩𝗘𝗦 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗔𝗦𝗣𝗜𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘂𝗺,” held Wednesday, September 9, at the COC Lobby.

Sharing lessons from her own experiences, Ms. Elambayo encouraged students to stay true to their purpose and keep their values grounded as they pursue a career in broadcasting.

One of her key reminders was to “always choose the hard right over the easy wrong,” emphasizing that doing what is right may not always be the easiest choice, but it is always worth it.

She also reminded aspiring broadcasters not to let negative comments get to them, as constantly minding the noise can only drain their energy and distract them from what truly matters.

Above all, she highlighted the core responsibility of every broadcaster: to deliver verified, factual, and responsible news. Because broadcasting is more than just having a voice—it’s about using that voice with purpose, integrity, and responsibility.

The forum also opened the floor for an open forum, where COC’s freshie broadcasters had the opportunity to ask Ms. Elambayo questions about broadcasting, the realities of the industry, and her experiences as a young professional in the field. Through her candid answers and personal insights, she gave the aspiring broadcasters a closer look at what awaits them beyond the classroom.
