We commend the efforts and dedication displayed by our IP Pre-service teachers for making their ways just to attend the webinar sessions. The morning experience was indeed remarkable because of the brilliant speakers who are champions in cultural mastery and IP education, the retired UP professor and anthropologist, Dr. Alicia Magos and the empowered IP advocate, Ma'am Anna Hazel Ramirez.

The National Commission on Indigenous Peoples Region 6/7 & 8 and the Department of Education, Schools Division of Iloilo IPEd Section in collaboration with the Balay Patawili, Inc. and Panay Indigenous Culture Advocacy Group (PICAG) is presently conducting the PAGDAWAT 2021: A Capability Building of Indigenous Peoples Pre-Service Teachers as they embark on entering the teaching profession and will serve in the IPEd Implementing Schools in the future. PAGDAWAT is a Kinaray-a word that denotes giving assistance. In this context, this means providing support and bridging gaps in knowledge-building and capacitating teachers to be effective in serving the IP learners. The virtual training is attended by over 200 participants from the province of Iloilo. With the leadership and initiative of RD Agosto B. Maglunsod, Regional Director of NCIP Region 6/7 & 8 and Dr. Jesus C. Insilada, Division IPEd Focal Person of DepEd Iloilo, the endeavor is indeed a promise.

The National Commission on Indigenous Peoples Regional Office 6/7 & 8 gifted the IPEd Section of the Schools Division of Iloilo with the three volumes of book under its project, "Epanaw". The book features the indigenous cultural communities of the country where Volume 1 is Pagkilala, recognizing indigenous peoples and ancestral domains; Volume 2 is Paggalang, respect of justice system, cultural integrity and way of life, and Volume 3 is Pagtaguyod, promoting tourism destinations, protected areas, critical infrastructures, and natural resources in ancestral domains. Regional Director Agosto Maglunsod of NCIP personally gave the books to Dr. Jesus C. Insilada, IPED Focal Person of DepEd Iloilo together with other representatives from both agencies.
