𝗜𝗡 𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗦 | Ceremonial Launch -Tree Planting Activity with the theme "ISAT U: 120K Trees for 120 Years of Excellence
In celebration of Iloilo Science and Technology University's (ISAT U) upcoming 10th Charter and 120th Founding Anniversary, the Extension Services Division, in collaboration with the SR Federation, Faculty Federation Inc., Parents Affairs Relations, Alumni Association, NSTP, ISAT U External Campuses, and with partnerships from DENR, CENRO-Iloilo City, MENRO-Iloilo, IWARI Foundation, and the LGUs of Maasin, Barotac Nuevo, Dumangas, Leon, and Miagao, launched the Ceremonial Tree Planting Activity.
Under the theme 'ISAT U: 120K Trees for 120 Years of Excellence,' this initiative upholds the institution's values by actively engaging in projects that benefit both the university and the community. By planting 120,000 native trees, we honor our 120 years of service and dedication to education, while leaving a lasting environmental legacy for future generations. This effort also contributes to a greener, healthier environment and addresses local challenges such as deforestation and biodiversity loss.

Iloilo Science and Technology University - Extension Services Division actively participated in the recent PASUC VI-Extension Managers Council (EMC) training-workshop on formulating community-based situation analyses held at Diversion 21 Hotel, Mandurriao, Iloilo City last October 9-11, 2024

Spearheaded by the PASUC VI-Extension Managers Council (EMC), a highly engaging and insightful training-workshop focused on formulating community-based situation analyses. This initiative was designed to enhance participants' understanding of the principles and importance of situational analysis, a crucial step in community extension work. Throughout the training, participants were guided on the process of crafting comprehensive and strategic situational analysis proposals, ensuring a deep dive into the nuances of gathering relevant data that reflects the true needs of the communities they serve.

The workshop also fostered collaboration and knowledge-sharing among extensionists from different State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) across the region, promoting the establishment of a vibrant community of practice. By learning from one another’s experiences, the participants were able to broaden their perspectives, strengthen their networks, and enhance their collective impact in the communities they serve.

The resource person was Dr. Ma Jhoanna G. Guarin, the esteemed Director of the Intellectual Property Management Office of Antique State University. Dr. Guarin’s expertise and insightful guidance played a significant role in the success of the workshop, leaving participants equipped with the necessary tools and skills to develop meaningful and effective community-based situation analyses.

The Extension Services Division in collaboration with the Philippine Red Cross - Iloilo Chapter recently conducted a Blood Donation Drive, making a significant impact on the local community's health and well-being. The event, held at a designated venue, saw the enthusiastic participation of both staff and volunteers, all working together for a common humanitarian goal.

A total of 37 donors successfully contributed blood, exceeding expectations and demonstrating the power of collective action. The Extension Services Division played a crucial role in organizing the drive, from coordinating logistics to mobilizing volunteers, ensuring a smooth and well-managed event.

Volunteers from both organizations guided the donors through the donation process, from medical screening to post-donation care. Donors were provided with refreshments and advice on how to take care of themselves after the donation. For many, it was a first-time experience, and the friendly atmosphere helped ease their concerns. The collaboration emphasized the importance of sustaining blood supplies for emergency and medical needs across Iloilo and beyond.

In addition to the immediate life-saving benefits, the drive fostered a sense of community responsibility and showcased the value of partnerships between local organizations and national institutions like the Philippine Red Cross. Both the Extension Services Division and the Philippine Red Cross expressed their gratitude to the donors, vowing to continue their efforts in addressing the healthcare needs of the region.

This successful blood donation drive stands as a testament to the commitment of both organizations to serve others and make a tangible difference in the lives of those in need.

The Extension Services Division of Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT U) conducted a significant follow-up meeting with representatives from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), focusing on three key programs: the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), and the Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP). This initiative underlined ISAT U's commitment to fostering community development through active collaboration with government agencies.

The follow-up meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to strengthen the collaboration between ISAT U and DSWD. Both parties expressed optimism about the incoming projects and laid out plans for future endeavors that will continue to benefit marginalized communities across the region.
