A new batch of true-blooded Lacsonians received their shoulder boards during the donning ceremony held this morning at the university’s covered court.

The freshmen students of the College of Maritime Education and College of Criminial Justice stood proud as their seniors and instructors bestowed upon them their shoulder boards.

Midshipman Russel James Amatorio, Editor-in-Chief of The Dolphin, described the symbolism of the paraphernalia during the imposition, sharing that “One day, the uniform we wear inside these halls will be replaced by the uniform we wear at sea. When that day comes, some details may change, but the responsibility behind the uniform should remain.”

The ceremony is an annual tradition that emphasizes the responsibilities associated with wearing the uniform as the midshipmen prepare for their future roles in the maritime industry.
