Look ! SDO Program Head Conducts Monitoring and Technical Assistance on Reading and Numeracy Programs

As part of the Department of Education's continuous commitment to improving learners' academic performance, Schools Division of Ilocos Sur Education Program Supervisor in MAPEH, Ma'am Cecille Saldua, conducted school monitoring and provided technical assistance focusing on the implementation of the school's reading and numeracy programs at San Pablo Elementary School, June 26.

The activity aimed to assess the school's initiatives in addressing reading and numeracy gaps among learners and to provide guidance on strengthening intervention strategies. During the visitation, Ma'am Saldua carefully reviewed the school's reading and numeracy programs, emphasizing the importance of data-driven interventions to help struggling learners improve their literacy and numeracy skills.

She examined the school's identified reading and numeracy gaps and discussed appropriate intervention measures being implemented, such as remediation sessions, targeted learning activities, differentiated instruction, and regular progress monitoring. She encouraged teachers to continuously evaluate learners' performance and ensure that interventions are responsive to their individual learning needs.

Furthermore, Ma'am Saldua reviewed teachers' instructional materials, written works, and performance tasks in MAPEH. She emphasized the importance of ensuring the congruency of lessons, learning competencies, written works, and performance tasks to guarantee that assessments accurately measure the intended learning outcomes. She also provided valuable recommendations on aligning classroom assessments with the learning competencies and maintaining quality instructional practices.

A BLESSED BEGINNING

Seeking divine guidance for the new academic year, our school community gathered for its first Spiritual Mass, solemnly led by Narvacan Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Arwin Romulo Y. Rebollido.

Fr. Arwin captured everyone's hearts with a profound reminder to root their education in faith:
"Irugi tayo itidatoy nga tawen nga inkay panagbasa nga na inspiritualan."
Bringing smiles to the students, he shared the beloved story of Sianong and Pidong, weaving joy into his spiritual message. The celebration concluded with a campus-wide blessing, as Fr. Arwin sprinkled holy water across the classrooms, the Science Park, the school infrastructure, and the vehicles that safely bring the community together each day.
With blessed hearts and renewed minds, we are ready for a beautiful school year ahead!
