⚛️This study explains how tiny moving particles that can disappear over time behave differently when trying to reach a target, which affects how fast and how often they succeed.

🔬 By combining exact mathematical modeling with Monte Carlo simulations, this work provides a rigorous framework for understanding first-passage processes in systems where particles can “die” or vanish—relevant to fields such as biological transport, chemical reactions, and active matter physics.

Notices of Admission (NOA) have been issued to the top 20% of applicants, based on the 2026 MSU-IIT absorptive capacity.

Please note that the Top 20% BS Nursing qualifiers will be interviewed before admission and are therefore excluded from this initial NOA release.

Ranking for the next 70% absorptive capacity will be processed once the Top 20% has been finalized. Applicants are advised to regularly check their Admission Portal and email for updates.

Physics Department at Mindanao State University–Iligan Institute of Technology Research Days 2026 🔬⚛️

The Physics Department proudly participated in the University Research Days 2026, held on April 20–22, 2026.

Day 1 began with the grand opening and university-wide celebration at the Gym, bringing together researchers, faculty, students, and innovators across the university.

Day 2 highlighted the PhD Student Colloquium, where our graduate students shared their research work, ideas, and scientific progress.

Day 3 featured the Faculty Colloquium in the morning, followed by an engaging Lab Tour for the Undergraduate Open House in the afternoon, giving students a closer look at the exciting world of physics research.

A meaningful three-day celebration of curiosity, collaboration, and discovery! 💡✨

✨ Proud Moment for Our MS Physics Students! ✨

Three MS Physics students: Joevan Aliman, Kevin Bongabong, and Jordan Lee Ebaya, guided by thesis adviser Dr. Leo Cristobal C. Ambolode II, proudly represented the university at the 16th International Conference on Applied Physics and Mathematics (ICAPM 2026) in Osaka, Japan, last April 10-12, 2026.

In the Condensed Matter Physics and Computational Materials session, Joevan Aliman won the Best Oral Presenter Award, a testament to his outstanding work and presentation skills. The team presented five papers: three oral and two poster presentations to showcase their research prowess.

Congratulations to our MS students and to Dr. Ambolode for this remarkable achievement!
