25 KILOMETERS FOR EDUCATION 🥾

More than 100 Philippine Army soldiers carried school chairs on their shoulders while trekking more than 25 kilometers across rugged terrain to support Indigenous learners in Talaingod, Davao del Norte.

Personnel of the 60th Infantry “Mediator” Battalion crossed mountain ranges, dense forests, muddy trails, and rivers to reach geographically isolated communities in Barangay Palma Gil that remain inaccessible to vehicles.

The mission began on July 11, 2026. Motorcycles initially transported the supplies to Sitio Bagang, which served as a temporary logistics hub. From there, the soldiers continued on foot, carrying classroom chairs, school supplies, food packs, office materials, seedlings, and agricultural assistance.

The team reached remote sitios, including Nasilaban, Bagang, Nalubas, Nabalabag, Saso, and Laboo. Aside from delivering learning materials, the initiative included repairs to a school comfort room, the construction of a kitchen for teachers, trail improvements, community activities, and the distribution of livelihood supplies.

Approximately 150 households and more than 500 Indigenous residents benefited from the five-day mission. The soldiers also helped establish a learning space and prepare literacy support for children living far from schools and basic government services.

Each chair carried across those mountains represents more than classroom furniture—it represents a learner who deserves a safe place to sit, study, and dream.

No road was too distant when education was waiting at the end of the trail. 🪑📚
