When 366 ideas were pitched nationwide for the GCash ImaGnation 2026 Innovation Challenge, only ten made it to the finish lineโ€”and among them, Team prECEsion of JIECEPโ€‘IIT sped into the spotlight, proving that Mindanaoan ingenuity can outrun the odds.

Five 4thโ€‘year studentsโ€”Wilson Jr. A. Francisco (EsET 4), Jane Nicole S. Geronimo (ECE 4), Mary Leolin A. Padinit (ECE 4), Loren S. Taรฑan (ECE 4), and Darlyn Dale Virtudazo (ECE 4)โ€”took the wheel, guided by mentor Mr. Leo Carlo Morada and fueled with technical wisdom from Mr. JC Diamente of GCash. Together, they crafted an innovation inspired by the unsung heroes of the road: Filipino drivers who grind through long hours to keep families moving forward.

Their solution? A mobileโ€‘powered toolkit for financial inclusion and livelihood empowerment, designed to transform every kilometer driven into a step toward sustainable entrepreneurship. It was their answer to the challengeโ€™s theme, โ€œNegosyo Nation: Powering the Rise of the Filipino Entrepreneur,โ€ and it resonated with the judges enough to secure them a coveted Top 10 slot.

From September 7 to 9, 2026, the finals unfolded at the GCash Head Office in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. Amid the buzz of pitches and prototypes, Team prECEsion stood out as Mindanaoโ€™s lone flagbearer, carrying Iliganโ€™s pride into the national arena. And as if the recognition wasnโ€™t enough, they also crossed paths with Martha Sazon, President and CEO of Mynt, the powerhouse behind GCash and one of Fortuneโ€™s 100 Most Powerful Women in Asia.

For them, this wasnโ€™t just a competitionโ€”it was a declaration. A declaration that innovation can be born from the hum of tricycles and jeepneys, sharpened in classrooms, and showcased on the countryโ€™s biggest fintech stage. Team prECEsionโ€™s journey is proof that when ideas are driven by purpose, even the longest road can lead to national recognition.
