Demonstrating that excellence extends far beyond the classroom, Prudence Ann Cailing, a 𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐲 student of 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐨 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲–𝐈𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 (𝐌𝐒𝐔-𝐈𝐈𝐓) and a member of the 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬 (𝐉𝐏𝐈𝐀), represented the Philippines on the international stage after helping secure the 𝐁𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 at the 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐮𝐦 𝐄𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐬 (𝐈𝐒𝐂𝐎𝐒𝐌𝐄) 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 held at 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐬 𝐌𝐮𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐲𝐚𝐡 𝐘𝐨𝐠𝐲𝐚𝐤𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐚 (𝐔𝐌𝐘), 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐚, from June 7 to 14.

Hosted annually by UMY's International Undergraduate Program in Management (IUP Management), ISCOSME gathers university students and aspiring entrepreneurs from different countries for a week of academic exchange, entrepreneurial learning, and cultural immersion centered on the development of small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

Throughout the program, Cailing participated in lectures and workshops facilitated by distinguished speakers, including Dr. Jessa B. Labitad of the Philippines, Dr. Satakun Kaewmungkoon of Thailand, Dr. Halimin Herjnato of the United States, and Professor and entrepreneur Bagus Aditya. The sessions explored entrepreneurship, innovation, business sustainability, and the role of SMEs in driving economic growth.

One of the program's highlights was the international business exhibition, where Cailing collaborated with fellow delegates from Thailand to develop "MABUTHAI," an entrepreneurial concept showcasing the rich cultural heritage of both nations. Their booth paired Thailand's signature milk tea with well-loved Filipino delicacies, including polvoron, banana cue, and Iligan City's renowned Cheding's Peanuts, presenting a unique cross-cultural business concept that captivated judges and participants alike.

The team's creativity, collaboration, and compelling presentation ultimately earned Team MABUTHAI the Best Booth Award, recognizing their ability to blend innovation, entrepreneurship, and cultural appreciation into a marketable business concept.

Beyond the academics, Cailing immersed herself in Indonesia's rich cultural heritage through activities such as traditional Batik painting and visits to the Vredeburg Fortress Museum, the Kraton of Yogyakarta, Malioboro Street, the UNESCO World Heritage Site Borobudur Temple, and Mount Merapi, where delegates experienced an ATV adventure.

For Cailing, the experience went beyond bringing home an award—it became an opportunity to broaden her global perspective, strengthen cross-cultural connections, and develop entrepreneurial competencies that complement her accountancy education.

Cailing's achievement reflects the Department of Accountancy's commitment to developing globally competent students who excel not only in academic pursuits but also in international collaboration, innovation, and leadership. Her participation at ISCOSME 2026 stands as a testament to the caliber of MSU-IIT students and the university's continued pursuit of academic excellence and global engagement. More importantly, her success serves as an inspiration for aspiring accountancy students to embrace opportunities that extend learning beyond the four walls of the classroom, empowering them to develop the knowledge, adaptability, and global perspective needed to thrive on the world stage.

📢 Call for Applications: IMA U.S. CMA Scholarship Program

The Mindanao State University–Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) and the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) reaffirm their commitment to advancing their common interest of providing holistic learning and education opportunities to students through the renewal of their Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

In line with this, the MSU-IIT Department of Accountancy invites top BS Accountancy students to apply for the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) U.S. CMA Scholarship Program.

Three (3) outstanding BS Accountancy (BSA) students will be nominated annually to receive a U.S. CMA Scholarship, which includes:
✅ IMA Student Membership Fee Waiver
✅ U.S. CMA Entrance Fee Waiver
✅ U.S. CMA Examination Fee Waiver

Eligibility Requirement:
📌 Must be an incoming 4th-year student for AY 2026–2027 currently enrolled in the BS Accountancy program at MSU-IIT.

The Department of Accountancy encourages applications from students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership potential, and strong motivation to pursue the U.S. CMA certification. Honoring the beautiful life and legacy of Prof. Milagros Narido, CPA.

It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of Prof. Milagros Narido, CPA, a beloved retired professor of the Department of Accountancy. Throughout her years of service, she inspired countless students and colleagues through her dedication to teaching, commitment to excellence, and gracious spirit.

For those who wish to pay their final respects, the public viewing of her urn will be open this afternoon, June 12, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Cosmo Chapel.

The Interment of Ashes will be held on June 14, 2026, at 9:00 AM at Pryce Chapels, Iligan City.

As we mourn her passing, we also celebrate a life devoted to education, service, and the pursuit of knowledge. Her legacy will continue to live on in the lives she touched and the generations she helped shape.

May her soul rest in eternal peace.
