On May 13, 2026, the Robinsons Iligan Atrium was transformed into a vibrant hub of creativity and ocean advocacy. We came together to Make Art. Save Fish. โ and what an incredible day it was!
๐๏ธ From stunning seahorse sketches to bold, colorful interpretations of our most iconic fish species, every piece reminded us why our oceans are worth protecting.
A huge thank you to:

This May 27, join us for a webinar on invasive species and learn why some plants, animals, and organisms can become serious threats to our native wildlife, habitats, and communities.
Through this session, we will take a closer look at how invasive species affect biodiversity, why awareness matters, and what we can do to help protect the ecosystems that support everyday life.

To equip undergraduate Biology students with relevant skills and perspectives in emerging fields of research, the Department of Biological Sciences, through the Research Methods courses, conducted the seminar-lecture โAI and Bioinformatics in Researchโ last May 2, 2026 at the College of Health Sciences (CHS) Hall as part of the Biology Seminar Series Phase 5.
The seminar featured two talks highlighting the growing role of technology in the biological sciences.
Asst. Prof. Mark Anthony I. Jose, M.Sc. delivered the lecture titled โSurvival of the Smartest: AI in Biological Research,โ where he discussed the different types of artificial intelligence and their applications across various Biology disciplines. He also emphasized the ethical and responsible use of AI tools in academic work, particularly in undergraduate thesis writing, stressing that AI should serve as a tool to assist students rather than replace critical thinking and scientific integrity.
Following this, Dr. Carl F. Libayao presented the lecture โBioinformatics for Undergraduates,โ introducing students to the fundamentals of bioinformatics and its expanding role in biological research. He discussed the process of developing bioinformatics-based studies using various software and demonstrated practical applications of bioinformatics in analyzing biological data and addressing research problems.
The seminar concluded with an open forum where students engaged the speakers through questions and discussions, further deepening their understanding of AI and bioinformatics as emerging fields in modern biological research.
