Join us for insightful discussions on the critical environmental challenges shaping our world. From urban air quality to community health impacts, we're bringing together researchers, practitioners, and advocates to share findings and foster real solutions.
But here's a question worth discussing: ๐๐ฉ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ญ๐ฅ ๐ด๐ค๐ช๐ฆ๐ฏ๐ต๐ช๐ง๐ช๐ค ๐ฌ๐ฏ๐ฐ๐ธ๐ญ๐ฆ๐ฅ๐จ๐ฆ ๐ฃ๐ฆ ๐ง๐ณ๐ฆ๐ฆ? We believe it should; it belongs in the hands of those who need it most, especially research affecting public health and urban communities.
Let's talk about making science accessible, actionable, and community-centered.

This research evaluates the mangrove forest ecosystem of the Municipality of Pangutaran Island in Sulu Province, Philippines. The goal of the research is to estimate living biomass carbon storage and the economic market value of that carbon storage. The study aims to encourage the protection of coastal ecosystems as a means of mitigating and adapting to climate change by providing a monetary value for ecosystem services. This study contributes to SDG 13.3, SDG 14.2, and SDG 15.2, enhancing institutional capacity for climate change, protecting and restoring coastal ecosystems, and promoting sustainable forest management.

This study examined the willingness of residents in Barangay Gabunan and Libandayan, Rogongon, Iligan City, to pay for the conservation of the Philippine tarsier (๐๐ข๐ณ๐ญ๐ช๐ต๐ฐ ๐ด๐บ๐ณ๐ช๐ค๐ฉ๐ต๐ข), using the Contingent Valuation Method (CVM) as its primary economic valuation tool. A total of 230 households were surveyed to assess their attitudes, knowledge, and willingness to contribute annually. Results showed that 92.2% were willing to pay, with an average annual contribution of โฑ494.35. Residents generally showed positive attitudes and fair knowledge about tarsier conservation. Household taxes and utility bill charges were the preferred payment methods. Findings suggest strong community support and indicate that an annual contribution of about โฑ500โโฑ550 per household helps support future conservation efforts.

This study directly contributes to SDG 11.5, SDG 11.b, and SDG4.a targets. By utilizing REDAS simulation, this research provides the data-driven modeling that institutions need to develop proactive disaster resilience policies. Building on this foundation, it assess the structural vulnerabilities of the university- specifically the secondary hazards such as fire and chemical spills in campus buildings. Finally, by identifying vulnerable groups on the MSU-IIT campus and assessing their awareness and behavior, the study targets the human element of disaster survival, ensuring no one is left behind when "The Big One" strikes.
