This study investigated the distribution of microplastics across different coastal environmental matrices, including mangrove sediments, beach sand, seagrass beds, estuary sediments, and surface water in Alubijid, Misamis Oriental, Philippines. It quantified microplastic abundance and characterized their size, shape, color, and polymer composition using ATR-FTIR spectroscopy, while also evaluating contamination levels and potential ecological risks to improve understanding of microplastic transport and distribution in interconnected coastal ecosystems.
