LEARNING BY DOING: BTLEd AFA Majors in Action!

The BTLEd Third Year – Agri-Fishery Arts (AFA) majors once again showcased their dedication and practical skills through a hands-on learning activity focused on proper goat management and care. Guided by their subject instructor, Mr. John Arnel Fabrid, together with the assistance of the CFCST GO’s, the students actively participated in the cut-and-carry of different forage grasses used as nutritious feeds for the goats.

Beyond feeding activities, the students also gained valuable experience in animal health management by properly administering vitamins and antibiotic injections to the goats under proper supervision. This activity helped strengthen their knowledge, confidence, and responsibility in handling livestock while applying the concepts they learned inside the classroom into real-life agricultural practice.

Indeed, learning becomes more meaningful when combined with experience, teamwork, and dedication. The BTLEd AFA majors continue to prove that future educators in agriculture are not only equipped with knowledge but also with practical skills and passion for sustainable farming and animal production.

‎🌿 HOOKED ON LEARNING: AFA Students’ Educational Tour at Camp Malire! 🎣
‎
‎Heads up! April 08, 2026, the BTLEd Third Year – Agri-Fishery Arts (AFA) majors embarked on a meaningful educational tour at Camp Malire, guided by their dedicated instructor, Mr. Salahodin L. Titay. With enthusiasm and curiosity, the students immersed themselves in hands-on fishing activities that brought their classroom lessons to life.
‎
‎This experience was more than just catching fish—it was about mastering the proper ex*****on of traditional fishing methods such as bingwit (fishing rod) and Laya (cast net). Under Sir Titay’s guidance, students learned the correct techniques, from casting lines with precision to working together in deploying nets effectively.
‎
‎Through this activity, the AFA students proudly demonstrated:
‎👍 Practical Skills Development: Applying fishing techniques with proper ex*****on and discipline.
‎👍 Teamwork & Cooperation: Strengthening unity while using the pukot and supporting one another.
‎👍 Patience & Perseverance: Understanding that success in fishing requires time, focus, and effort.
‎👍 Real-World Learning: Gaining valuable knowledge and experiences beyond the classroom.
‎With every cast and catch, the students not only learned skills essential to agri-fishery but also created memories that will guide them in their future careers.

We are also thankful to the owner of the resort Sir Conrad Provida & Ma’am Janice Provida for being accommodation, care and approachable.

𝐄𝐃𝐔𝐂𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐍 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐂𝐇 | Senate President Pro Tempore Loren Legarda has secured the third reading approval of Senate Bill No. 1894, strengthening the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act (RA 10931) by improving the targeting and coverage of the Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES).

Key policy highlights include:
• More focused financial aid for the most financially vulnerable students, based on household income
• Priority support for 4Ps beneficiaries, persons with disabilities, indigenous peoples, solo parents, and learners from geographically isolated areas
• Expanded TES coverage for essential education costs such as books, transportation, food, housing, laptops, and other school requirements
• Additional support for nursing and allied health students, including internship and related learning experience fees
• Stronger accountability mechanisms and inflation-responsive, timely assistance to ensure efficient use of public funds

For students of Cotabato Foundation College of Science and Technology and other higher education institutions, this policy means more targeted and meaningful financial support. It strengthens access to tertiary education by reducing the burden of daily and academic expenses, especially for students coming from low-income and vulnerable households, making it more possible to complete a degree without being forced to stop due to financial constraints.
