Building the foundation of future English educators and language professionals, Project REVIEWS brought together English aspirants for a day of learning and preparation, June 11.

The activity featured a writing workshop facilitated by Bonjoe Sumio and a speaking session lecture led by Richmond Andrada, providing participants with valuable insights on effective communication and language use. An interview session was also facilitated by VOWEL officers, giving aspirants the opportunity to experience and prepare for possible interview scenarios.

Through these learning sessions, Project REVIEWS sought to enhance the participantsโ€™ confidence, communication skills, and readiness as they pursue their journey toward becoming future English educators and language professionals.

In every learning journey, there are voices that do more than speak, they shape, challenge, and transform the way we see communication itself. Project REVIEWS proudly introduces its speakers. Individuals whose excellence in writing, speaking, and critical thinking embody the very essence of what it means to be future educators and communicators.

Leading the Writing Workshop is Bonj Sumio, a name already familiar in the realms of leadership. As the President of VOWEL (2024โ€“2027) Secretary of SSC ISU-I (2025โ€“2026), a broadcaster for The Newsette Publication since 2021, Bonj has consistently demonstrated excellence beyond the classroom. He was also recognized as Rank 1 Outstanding Student-Leader of the Year (2026) and Rank 3 Outstanding Student of the Year (2026). His experience as one of the hosts of the PACSA International Convention 2025 further reflects his ability to command presence, precision, and professionalism. In the Writing Workshop, participants are expected to be guided not only in structure and style, but in finding the courage to let their voices be heard with clarity and purpose.

On the other hand, leading the Speaking Session is Richmond Andrada, a distinguished figure in the field of debate and oration. As the President of the Alliance of ISUan Debaters (2025โ€“2026), he has built a strong record of excellence in competitive speaking. His achievements include being the ISU-I Studentโ€™s Festival 2025 Debate Cup Champion, University-Wide Debate Cup 2025 Finalsโ€™ Best Debater, Semifinalsโ€™ Best Speaker, and a multiple-time Best Speaker awardee in Nursing Week Debate Cups. He is also recognized as Rank 1 Outstanding Student of the Year (2026), Rank 3 Outstanding Student Leader of the Year (2026), Rank 3 Outstanding Student Artist of the Year โ€“ Visual Arts (2026), and Rank 4 Outstanding Student Journalist of the Year (2026). His legacy further includes being named Orator of the Year (2021). He also qualified for the UP Patalasanlahi. In addition, his recognition in the Isabela Socio-Cultural Awareness Week 2021 Dagliang Talumpati Competition highlights his command of language and persuasion. Through his session, participants will be challenged to think critically, respond confidently, and speak with conviction under pressure.

Together, these speakers represent more than individual achievement, they represent the standard of excellence that Project REVIEWS aims to cultivate. Through their guidance, aspiring English majors are not only trained in skills but shaped into communicators and writers who are prepared, purposeful, and powerful in their craft.

In celebration of the 48th Founding Anniversary of Isabela State Universityโ€“Ilagan Campus, officers of Versatile Orators and Writers in English Language (VOWEL) took part in DALOY: Serbisyo Para sa Komunidad held today, June 9, at Barangay Rang-ayan, City of Ilagan.

Joining campus officials, faculty members, extension workers, and community residents, the VOWEL officers actively participated in the outreach activity that delivered various services aimed at promoting community welfare and strengthening the universityโ€™s connection with the people it serves.

Representing the organization were Az Pereรฑa, Alexa Dela Rosa, Aldrin Bagasin, Sheryn Concepcion, and Bonj Sumio, together with our CED Coordinator, Maโ€™am Kerubin Jan Lamorena.

Through their participation, the officers embodied the values of service, leadership, and community engagement, proving that learning extends beyond the classroom and into meaningful action for the people.
