In Japan, many schools skip janitors and practice o-soji: students clean their own classrooms, hallways, and bathrooms. After the last lesson, brooms, dustpans, rags, and buckets come out, and everyone pitches in for ten to twenty minutes. Teachers join, modeling the rhythm and standards while homeroom groups fan out to assigned zones. The idea is simple: tidy the space you use, notice what needs care, and leave it better for the next person.

Cleaning is treated as education, not punishment. Rotating crews and checklists build teamwork, planning, and attention to detail; quiet voices or music keep focus while floors shine and desks line up square. Students learn to wring cloths, sweep edges first, and separate trash, but also to share responsibility for a public good. Because roles rotate, everyone scrubs and everyone leads, flattening status and building empathy.

The results show up beyond spotless tiles. Rooms last longer, costs fall, and pride rises; scuffs get fixed before they spread, and messes rarely become someone else’s problem. More importantly, students carry habits home: noticing litter, stacking shoes, wiping spills without being asked. O-soji wraps civic duty, mindfulness, and life skills into one daily ritual—small, practical, and quietly powerful.

Joining different clubs and organizations in school is one of the opportunities offered by Southern Hingyon National High School to engage students and help them boost their confidence and develop their leadership capabilities. The SSLG conducted a CLUB MEMBERSHIP CAMPAIGN to increase students' awareness of functional clubs and organizations in school. Each club and organization presented their objectives and plans for the school year, encouraging students to join and participate.
