Service, Not โ€œBida-bidaโ€

Itโ€™s sports meet season again, and as usual, Scouts are always ready to serve whenever we are needed whether for crowd control, hauling, assisting as medics, or simply helping wherever there is a task to be done.

For us, serving is not about getting attention or showing off. Itโ€™s almost automatic for us, "We see a task, and we respond". That is what Scouting has taught us...to be prepared, to be responsible, and to serve others whenever we can.

Sadly, sometimes our willingness to help is misunderstood as being โ€œbida-bida.โ€

So, with all due respect, please stop calling Scouts โ€œbida-bidaโ€ simply because we are willing to serve and we are the one to respond first.

We donโ€™t serve to be praised. We serve because this is who we are, this is what we were trained to do, and this is how we live the Scout spirit.

"Laging Handaโ€ is not just a motto we say... it is a way of life.
