As the sun gently sets on their junior high journey, the Grade 10 completers of Gutalac National High School gathered for a moment of graceโ€”a Baccalaureate Mass offered not just as a tradition, but as a prayer.

A prayer for guidance.
A prayer for strength.
A prayer for courage as they prepare to take their first real step beyond the four walls that have shaped them.

More than that, it was also a moment of cleansing and quiet courage. Some students were able to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation, guided by Rev. Fr. Randy Tic-ing, who generously opened that space for healing and reflection. In those moments of confession, hearts were unburdened, and spirits renewed.

This Mass was more than a ceremony. It was a sacred pauseโ€”to say thank you for the memories, to ask for light in the days ahead, and to carry with them the quiet power of faith as they move forward with hope in their hearts.

With full hearts, we thank Rev. Fr. Randy Tic-ing for leading this meaningful celebration of faith, the St. Isidore Parish Choir for lifting our spirits through song, and our dedicated faculty and staff for standing beside our learners every step of the way. To the ever-supportive parents and guardians, your presence made the moment even more special.

This Monday, they receive their certificates. But today, they received something just as important: a blessing to carry with them, wherever they may go.

God bless you soon to be completers of GNHS!

Before stepping into the final chapter of their junior high journey, the Grade 10 students of Gutalac National High School were given a moment to pauseโ€”to reflect, to reconnect with themselves, and to rise above the weight theyโ€™ve been quietly carrying.

The day was filled with silence, honesty, and healing, the recollection gave them the space to let go of what no longer serves them: fear, self-doubt, pain, anger, and all the unspoken burdens theyโ€™ve hidden for far too long.

Through the gentle presence and wisdom of Sister Rosario Bandico, hearts opened wide. One by one, students stood up and bravely shared their inner battlesโ€”stories of broken homes, silent grief, pressure, loneliness, and hidden wounds. And in that vulnerability, something beautiful happened: walls crumbled, and empathy flowed.

No one left the same. The recollection didnโ€™t just offer restโ€”it offered release. It reminded every student that they are never alone, that healing begins when we speak, and that strength is often found in the most fragile moments.

As they prepare for their Completion Ceremony, may they carry this day in their heartsโ€”a reminder that before we rise, we must reflect. And in doing so, we find the power to inspire, to strengthen one another, and to move forward empowered.

Grit, intellect, and unwavering determinationโ€”these were the weapons that Blanche Bella A. Naranjo of Gutalac National High School (GNHS) wielded as she clinched 3rd place in the Population Development (PopDev) Quiz Bee during the Division Festival of Talents held from March 17-19, 2025, in Liloy, Zamboanga del Norte.

The competition was nothing short of intense, with contestants from six clusters battling it out in a test of knowledge and quick thinking. The tension escalated when four competitors, including Naranjo, achieved perfect scores in all rounds, forcing an unexpected and highly competitive clincher showdown.

At first, Naranjoโ€™s precise response to the initial clincher question set her apart, putting her on the brink of victory. However, a dispute from opposing coaches led to a decision for an extended clincher round, stretching to a staggering 12 tiebreaker questionsโ€”a testament to the caliber of the competitors. One after another, the contestants answered flawlessly, refusing to be eliminated. It was only on the 12th clincher question that the final rankings were determined, with Naranjo securing the 3rd spot in what became an unforgettable intellectual showdown.

Despite the limited review time before the competition, her coach, Maโ€™am Ailyn Jane I. Marchan, expressed immense pride in Naranjoโ€™s performance. โ€œShe gave it her all. The competition was incredibly tough, but she stood her ground and never wavered,โ€ Marchan shared.

Though the gold narrowly slipped away, Naranjoโ€™s performance proved her resilience, brilliance, and competitive spirit. She may have finished third, but in the eyes of her school and mentors, she remains a true champion of knowledge.
