FIRE DRILL AT GUIHULNGAN NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL - POBLACION
Mastering Fire Extinguisher Use and Emergency First Aid
Guihulngan National High School - Poblacion holds a targeted fire drill focused on two critical life skills: proper operation of fire extinguishers and essential emergency first aid.
Fire Extinguisher Training: Students are guided through the standard P.A.S.S. method (Pull the pin, Aim at the base of the fire, Squeeze the handle, Sweep side to side). Trained instructors demonstrate safe handling techniques, explain different fire classes and appropriate extinguisher types, and supervise practical hands-on practice with controlled simulation setups to ensure learners can act confidently if faced with a small, manageable fire.
Emergency First Aid: The drill also covers first aid response for fire-related incidents, including how to assess burn severity, provide immediate care for minor burns, and safely assist individuals with respiratory issues from smoke inhalation. Participants learn proper procedures for calling emergency services, stabilizing victims until professional help arrives, and preventing further injury in fire emergency scenarios.
This initiative empowers students not only to protect themselves but to become reliable responders who can support their school community and neighbors during critical situations.
