A new academic year unfolds, offering renewed opportunities to learn, grow, and rediscover our purpose. As we step back into our classrooms, hallways, and campus life, we carry forward a deeper sense of gratefulness, a stronger commitment, and a united passion for excellence.

Coming back to school always feels like stepping into a familiar routine we never really forget—the late-night catch-ups, the all-nighters spent cramming or finishing requirements, and the constant companionship of coffee or energy drinks that blur night into day. Bags get heavier, sleep gets shorter, and schedules suddenly revolve around deadlines and alarms. Yet somehow, in the middle of the caffeine-fueled exhaustion and half-awake mornings, there’s a shared understanding that this is part of the drill—a sign that we’re back where learning happens, challenges are faced head-on, and growth quietly begins all over again.

Another semester to start, to juggle—to survive. May this year be a journey of shaping minds, nurturing character, and building a future with hope, perseverance, and dedication.

In response to the devastation caused by Typhoon , the Provincial Youth Development Council (PYDC) of Negros Oriental and the League of Student Governments (LSG) of Negros Oriental are spearheading a relief initiative to extend aid to affected communities across the province, especially for our brothers and sisters in the First District.

We are urgently calling for in-kind and monetary donations to support displaced families and individuals.

The most needed items include:
🩳 Clean and usable clothes
🥫 Ready-to-eat food and canned goods
💧 Bottled water
🧼 Hygiene kits (soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, sanitary pads, etc.)
🪑 Blankets, mats, and towels

Single-use plastics are commonly used plastic packaging, including stirrers, plastic straws, plastic cups, styrofoam, cellophanes and etc. that are intended to be used only once. Except in the collection and storage of solid waste where the use of plastic containers and plastic bags are allowed. This is an implementation of the Social Waste Management (SWM) Program of the University which was approved by the NORSU Board Regents.

Protecting the planet begins with the choices we make today. By embracing the prohibition of single-use plastics, we take a step toward cleaner communities, healthier ecosystems, and a more sustainable future for generations to come.

Every plastic we refuse is a future we rescue. This prohibition is more than a rule — it is a call to action for us to rethink our habits, embrace eco-friendly alternatives, and work hand in hand toward a sustainable world.
