𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒 | NORSU-Guihulngan culminates National Women’s Month 2026
Recognizing the important role of women in society, the Gender and Development (GAD) Office of Negros Oriental State University-Guihulngan Campus led the culmination of National Women’s Month, carrying the theme “Lead Like the Babaylans, Filipinas,” held at the campus gymnasium on March 18, 2026.
The celebration highlighted this year’s theme, encouraging women to embrace their abilities, leadership, and wisdom—just as the Babaylans once led and guided their communities.
“Gender equality is not about competition. It is not about proving one gender over another. It is about building systems that allow others to thrive. It is about institutions opening doors, families offering support, colleagues recognizing merit, women empowering women, and men choosing to be allies,” said Atty. Darlene Jumuad Catacutan, emphasizing the importance of acknowledging gender equality within the community.
Various activities were conducted during the program, including inspirational messages, an open forum, and performances that showcased talents while highlighting the contributions of women to society.
The program served as a call to action for everyone to continue working toward empowering women and creating an inclusive and supportive environment for a better community, urging the sustained advocacy for women’s rights, the promotion of equality, and the recognition of leadership in all aspects of society.
