𝐒𝐀𝐕𝐇𝐒 𝐉𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐰𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐥, 𝐌𝐨𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐬 𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝟏,𝟑𝟎𝟎 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐥

GOVERNOR GENEROSO, Davao Oriental — More than 1,300 students, teaching personnel, and non-teaching staff of Sigaboy Agricultural Vocational High School (SAVHS) simultaneously participated in the 2nd Quarter National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) at exactly 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, as part of the nationwide preparedness campaign spearheaded by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) and the Office of Civil Defense (OCD).

This activity was led by the school's Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Team in coordination with SAVHS emergency responders, ensuring the orderly conduct of earthquake preparedness procedures within the campus.

Upon the sounding of the alarm, students and school personnel immediately performed the standard earthquake safety protocol of “Duck, Cover, and Hold,” followed by a systematic evacuation to designated safe areas. School responders were also deployed to guide participants and monitor compliance with safety procedures.

School officials said the exercise was more than a routine compliance activity, emphasizing that it served as a critical preparedness measure following the recent magnitude 7.8 earthquake that affected parts of Mindanao and heightened public awareness on disaster readiness.

“The drill is a reminder that preparedness saves lives. We want every learner and employee to know exactly what to do when a real earthquake strikes,” Reymar T. Trinidad, SAVHS Responders incident commander said.

The nationwide drill forms part of the government's continuing efforts to strengthen disaster resilience among communities and institutions. The NSED, conducted quarterly under the leadership of the NDRRMC and OCD, aims to enhance public awareness and improve emergency response capabilities in the event of a major earthquake.

With the recent seismic activity experienced in Mindanao, school officials underscored the importance of sustaining disaster preparedness programs and regular emergency drills to ensure the safety and protection of all members of the school community.

Pursuant to Executive Order No. 38, Series of 2026

The suspension of face-to-face classes and government work operations issued earlier due to the recent earthquake and aftershocks affecting the locality is hereby 𝐋𝐈𝐅𝐓𝐄𝐃, effective immediately.

All face-to-face classes at every level — in both public and private schools — shall resume regular operations 𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘄. This also applies to all teaching and non-teaching personnel, as well as work in all government offices within the Municipality of Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental.

The 𝘿𝙚𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙈𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙥𝙖𝙡 𝙀𝙣𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙊𝙛𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙚, 𝙈𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙥𝙖𝙡 𝙎𝙤𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙒𝙚𝙡𝙛𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘿𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙥𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙊𝙛𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙚, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙈𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙥𝙖𝙡 𝘿𝙞𝙨𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙍𝙞𝙨𝙠 𝙍𝙚𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙈𝙖𝙣𝙖𝙜𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙊𝙛𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙚 has already conducted a 𝐑𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐝 𝐃𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐍𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐬 𝐀𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐬 (𝐑𝐃𝐀𝐍𝐀) for a thorough safety inspection and structural assessment of all facilities, grounds, and areas within school premises, as well as all offices, buildings, and properties of the Local Government Unit earlier this morning after the earthquake. After careful evaluation, it was confirmed that all structures are safe, stable, structurally sound, and fit for occupancy and regular use.

Private businesses within the municipality may continue or adjust their work arrangements at the discretion of their respective management.
