CSUG Criminology Student Joins Multidisciplinary Research Exchange in Malaysia

Elisha Mae A. Asuncion, a senior student of the College of Criminal Justice Education (CCJE) of Cagayan State University–Gonzaga, represented the campus in the Exchange Program on Multidisciplinary and SDG-Oriented Research and Development at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.

The six-day exchange program, scheduled from August 16 to 21, 2026, provides an avenue for participating students and faculty members to engage in collaborative and sustainability-focused research exchanges with UTM, particularly through its Institute of Bioproduct Development.

Asuncion joined five faculty members and 17 students from other CSU campuses in the international exchange, giving her an opportunity to gain new perspectives on research, sustainability, academic practices, and cultural exchange.

In an interview, Asuncion described the experience as a short but memorable opportunity that she does not often get to experience. She expressed excitement about being in a new environment and learning firsthand about Malaysian culture and the practices of a university in another country.

For Asuncion, the exchange is more than an academic experience. She looks forward to bringing home the lessons, insights, and experiences she gains from the program and sharing them with her classmates and loved ones.

The participation of a CSU-Gonzaga student in the international exchange highlights the campus’ continuing efforts to provide students with opportunities for global exposure, collaborative learning, and meaningful engagement beyond the classroom.

CSU-Gonzaga Nakikiisa sa Pagbubukas ng Pista 2026 ng Bayan ng Gonzaga

Aktibong nakilahok ang pamunuan at buong Tangkiran community ng Cagayan State University–Gonzaga sa opisyal na pagbubukas ng Pista 2026 ng Bayan ng Gonzaga nitong Agosto 15, bilang pagpapakita ng pakikiisa at suporta sa mga programa, adhikain, at gawaing pangkultura ng lokal na pamahalaan.

Pinangunahan ni CEO Dr. Froilan A. Pacris, Jr. ang delegasyon ng CSU-Gonzaga, kasama ang mga dekano, opisyal, faculty members, at administrative personnel ng kampus. Sa pamamagitan ng kanilang aktibong pakikilahok, ipinakita ng pamantasan ang patuloy nitong suporta sa mga inisyatiba ng Pamahalaang Bayan ng Gonzaga, partikular sa pagsusulong, pagpapahalaga, at pagpapanatili ng mayamang kultura at tradisyon ng bayan.

Hindi lamang sa pagbubukas ng pista nakilahok ang Tangkiran community. Naging bahagi rin ng Gabi ng mga Kaguruan ang mga kinatawan ng paaralan nitong Agosto 16, kung saan ipinamalas ng mga kawani at empleyado ang kanilang talento at husay sa mga tampok na patimpalak.

Nagkamit ng 1st Runner-Up ang mga kawani ng CSU-Gonzaga sa Folk Dance Competition, habang itinanghal din silang Best in Costume and Props bilang special award. Ipinakita ng kanilang pagtatanghal ang malikhaing pagsasama ng sining, kultura, at pagkakaisa ng komunidad ng Tangkiran.

Samantala, muling ipinamalas ng Tangkiran Band ang kanilang talento sa musika matapos makamit ang 1st Runner-Up sa Battle of the Bands, isa sa mga tampok na kompetisyon ng nasabing gabi.

Ang matagumpay na pakikilahok ng CSU-Gonzaga sa Pista 2026 ay patunay ng matibay na ugnayan ng pamantasan at ng lokal na pamahalaan, gayundin ng aktibong pakikiisa ng Tangkiran community sa mga gawaing nagtataguyod ng kultura, talento, at pagkakakilanlan ng mga Gonzagueños.

CSUG Programs Undergo Virtual Internal Mock Accreditation Ahead of Level III Phase 2 Survey Visit

The Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSE), Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED), and Bachelor of Science in Criminology (BS Crim) programs of Cagayan State University–Gonzaga underwent a Virtual Internal Mock Accreditation on August 12, as part of the campus’ preparations for the upcoming Level III Phase 2 Survey Visit.

The activity brought together the respective task forces of the College of Teacher Education (CTE) and the College of Criminal Justice Education (CCJE), along with university quality assurance officials and designated internal accreditors, to assess the programs’ readiness and ensure compliance with accreditation requirements.

Representing the Campus Executive Officer of CSU- Gonzaga Dr. Froilan A. Pacris, Jr., Dr. Jay Omotoy, Dean of the College of Business, Entrepreneurship and Accountancy, delivered the opening remarks. He emphasized that accreditation plays a vital role in the university’s pursuit of continuous excellence in all its services, anchored on its fourfold mandate of Instruction, Research, Extension, and Production.

“We subject our programs to accreditation in order to ensure that we meet the highest standard of quality and relevance. This process not only validates our efforts but also serves as an opportunity for us to reflect on our practices and identify areas for growth.”
Dr. Omotoy likewise commended the task forces of CTE and CCJE for their dedication, efforts, and sacrifices in preparing for the forthcoming Level III Phase 2 Survey Visit.

Meanwhile, Dr. Marie Claudette Calanoga, University Quality Assurance Director, provided key reminders for the actual accreditation visit. She underscored the importance of ensuring compliance with the recommendations from the Level II Survey Visit and the completeness and organization of the required narratives and documentary evidence for the Level III areas.

Serving as internal accreditors for the participating programs were Dr. Maita Guadamor and Dr. Victor Martinez for the BS Criminology program; Dr. Shella Dela Cruz and Dr. Babylyn Canceran for the Bachelor of Secondary Education; and Dr. Rudolf Vecaldo and Dr. Rhea Tamayo for the Bachelor of Elementary Education.

The virtual mock accreditation served as an avenue to evaluate the preparedness of the three programs, identify areas for improvement, and strengthen documentation and evidence in anticipation of the actual survey visit.

As we celebrate the embodiment of our shared culture and solidarity, we invite all students, faculty members, and administrative staff across all six colleges to master the routine!

Dr. Froilan A. Pacris, Jr., Campus Executive Officer of CSU-Gonzaga, shared a message of unity and solidarity as the campus joins the nation in celebrating ASEAN Month. He emphasized the importance of unity, cultural appreciation, collaboration, and shared responsibility among the ASEAN community. His message reminded the CSU-Gonzaga family that beyond celebrating the rich diversity of Southeast Asia, ASEAN Month is an opportunity to strengthen commitment to cooperation, mutual respect, and building a more connected, inclusive, and harmonious community.

CSU-Gonzaga Holds Inception Meeting for DOST-Funded TANIM+ Project

CSU–Gonzaga held the inception meeting for the Department of Science and Technology (DOST)-funded TANIM+: Smart and Sustainable Tissue-Cultured Crops Advancement for Nutrition, Innovation, and Market Development on August 3 at the MABRIC Building Conference Hall.

The meeting gathered representatives from DOST-Cagayan Province, local government units, Municipal Agriculture Offices, partner cooperatives, university officials, faculty members, project personnel, and other stakeholders to discuss the project's objectives, implementation strategies, and the roles of partner institutions.

In his opening message, Campus Executive Officer Dr. Froilan A. Pacris Jr. emphasized the university's commitment to promoting food security through science and technology. He shared that the project aims to provide farmers with disease-free planting materials through tissue culture technology and encouraged participating municipalities to maximize their agricultural potential by developing specialty crops based on their local strengths.

Dr. Pacris also presented the project's objectives, methodology, expected outputs, and the responsibilities of the university, local government units, and project beneficiaries in the project's implementation.

Representing the funding agency, DOST-Cagayan Province Provincial Director Jayferson D. Mabborang expressed the agency's continued support for the initiative and commended CSU-Gonzaga for spearheading the project. He underscored the importance of the inception meeting in ensuring that all stakeholders have a shared understanding of the project's goals and implementation strategies.

CSU Vice President for Internationalization, Partnership and Resource Mobilization, Dr. Ana Marie Cauilan, also delivered a message of support, highlighting the value of research partnerships and expressing optimism that the project would contribute to sustainable agricultural development and create greater opportunities for Filipino farmers.

The meeting proper, facilitated by Project Leader Ms. Myraly L. Marcos, focused on the discussion of the draft Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), implementation plans, and the responsibilities of participating institutions. Representatives from the partner local government units pledged their commitment to supporting the project, while DOST reaffirmed its continued partnership with the university.

The activity concluded with closing remarks from College of Agriculture Dean Dr. Jayrome S. Butay, who thanked all partner agencies and stakeholders for their commitment to advancing sustainable agriculture through science, technology, and innovation.

Four CSU-Gonzaga Employees Take Oath as Newly Hired and Promoted Personnel

Four employees of Cagayan State University–Gonzaga Campus officially took their oath as newly hired and promoted personnel on July 30 during the Expanded Executive Committee (ExeCom) and Management Committee (ManCom) Meeting held at CSU-Lal-lo.

The employees who took their oath were Shella Mae Unciano and Pamela Joy Blancas, newly hired as Instructors; Israel Terrobias Jr., newly hired as Administrative Aide; and Marvie Agustines, promoted to Administrative Officer II.

In an interview, Mrs. Agustines, who has served the Gonzaga campus for 10 years, expressed her heartfelt gratitude and joy over her promotion. She shared that the promotion was especially meaningful as its effectivity coincided with her birthday, making it an unforgettable blessing.

“Serving CSU, especially the Gonzaga Campus, is indeed a milestone that I will cherish throughout my life,” Agustines said.

On behalf of her fellow newly hired and promoted employees, she extended her sincere appreciation to the OIC University President, Dr. Arthur G. Ibanez, the university officials, and the Campus Executive Officer of CSU–Gonzaga, Dr. Froilan A. Pacris, Jr., for the trust and opportunity bestowed upon them. She also conveyed her gratitude to her supervisor and colleagues whose support and encouragement inspired them throughout their journey.

CSU–Gonzaga Opens ASEAN Month 2026, Launches First-Ever WEAVE Program

Cagayan State University–Gonzaga Campus officially opened its ASEAN Month Celebration 2026 on August 3, with students, faculty, staff, and university officials donning cultural attire in a vibrant display of Southeast Asia’s rich heritage. The event also marked the launching of the campus’ first-ever WEAVE Program.

The kick-off program commenced with the ASEAN Solidarity Parade, led by Vice President for Internationalization, Partnership and Resource Mobilization (IPRM) Prof. Dr. Ana Marie C. Cauilan and Campus Executive Officer Prof. Dr. Froilan A. Pacris Jr., together with faculty members, staff, and students.

The opening ceremony also featured the message of Officer-in-Charge University President Prof. Dr. Arthur G. Ibañez, the presentation of the rationale for the ASEAN Month Celebration, the official launch of Program WEAVE, the Pledge of Commitment toward ASEAN Awareness, and the ASEAN Solidarity Dance.

As the first initiative of its kind on the Gonzaga Campus, Program WEAVE aims to strengthen ASEAN awareness, foster regional cooperation, and promote a deeper appreciation of the region's shared cultural heritage through a series of month-long activities that encourage the CSU community to celebrate the collective identity and unity of the ASEAN region.
